“Every moment, every day, every individual counts”
Friday, 16th November 2018 Wow it has been an extremely busy week at both Primary and Secondary. On Wednesday it was the Secondary’s turn to hold their Awards Dinner and I had the pleasure of presenting their Always Always Always Award. Whilst having dinner it was lovely to hear the Secondary pupils sat on my table talking to the guests about the Primary Phase and how they love coming over to us and seeing the Primary pupils coming over to the Secondary. Yesterday I took two of our pupils over to Secondary where they joined three of the Secondary pupils for a photoshoot. Again it was an absolute delight to see how confident our two pupils were talking to the older ones and then to the photographer. Today once again the children have shown how they care for others with their generosity to raise money for Children in Need. Next week is Nursery Rhyme Week you are never too old to be reading those traditional rhymes the children will be having plenty of opportunities to hear rhymes over the course of the week. Finally returning to the Awards Dinner I was sat next to one of our Secondary pupils who had a nasty road accident last year. He was very honest talking about the impact it has had on him and how he feels the roads around school are dangerous. Last night I had my regular Thursday chat with my Dad who asked what it was like to be have the most dangerous A road in the South East very near to school. He was referring to the A254 which runs from Margate past Westwood Cross and ends at Chatham House in Ramsgate. We have regular Beep Beep Days where the children have the opportunity to be thinking about staying safe on the road whether as a pedestrian, cyclist, riding a scooter or being a passenger in the car. We can do our bit by driving slowly onto the school site but it is still disappointing to have drivers who are ignoring those signs and still turn right into and out of the Hope Way Site. All of us should be only be turning left into and out of the school site.
Have a lovely weekend!

HEADTEACHER THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
“ Over at our place, we are sure of only one thing: Everyone in the world was once a child.” – Walt Disney It doesn`t seem to matter what age you are we all seem to act like children at least once a day. Apparently I do this far more than most according to my family, but I am not ashamed or embarrassed! Yes I agree I am far too lively in the mornings, constantly talk on my way to work and try and communicate with every one I meet as I arrive at both schools. “You are worse than the children” came a cry from one of you the other week as I attempted to play tag with three of them in the playground on their way out. There is nothing better than joining in their games, attempting a football skill with the secondary pupils or commenting on the most recent teenage news. You learn much about your school sitting having lunch with the children on both sites – the latest crazes, the rumours, the romances and the sporting news. No need to watch the news each night as this is far more entertaining! The rumours that are true this week are: The build is slightly ahead of schedule. Naughty Elves have been seen eyeing up the school for the Christmas build up. That was me shopping at Westwood Cross when you were unsure and hid behind the make up. (Interestingly a parent not a child hiding). The school was represented by staff and children at every Remembrance Event in Thanet. I have had a touch of man flu this week (no sympathy please, I don`t get it at home so don`t expect it from any of you). The rumours that are untrue are:
We are building a nursery. Snow is coming next week and we will close (You know that both just will not happen). I am not retiring at the end of the year (Year 11 obviously think I am nearing that age). Spurs are better than Liverpool (Jack in Year 1). You are greyer than I last saw you Mr Mirams! (I completely refute this). So, with Children In Need ensuring that for at least one day we can be children again I look forward to seeing you all at pick up. Remember, whatever the children get up to they have learnt it from somewhere – Unfortunately in my house I am told that I am the guilty party when things don`t end well! God Bless You All, Mr Mirams
