Day 21: How do I know if I’ve Awakened? While there is no perfect “litmus test” for Awakening or measuring your embodiment, there are many signs you can look for that will tell you if you are on the right track. WARNING: This article and audio contain advanced and esoteric spiritual material that may not be appropriate for all people. We are going to dive deep into the scary core of the things we fear the most; if you are in an emotionally fragile state, you may wish to put this aside until you feel stronger. As mentioned previously, one of the most powerful and immediate effects of your Awakening will be a lessening or perhaps even a complete disappearance of fears like poverty, illness, your own death, or losing loved ones. Hence, a tough but effective method of measuring how much you’ve embodied your Awakening is to honestly and directly ask yourself, “If I (or someone you love) were seriously injured or diagnosed with a fatal disease or knew death was imminent, how afraid would I be?” If the answer is “a lot” – which it probably should be, unless you’re ready to walk on water! – you’ve got some more work to do. But if the answer is “very little” or “not at all”, and you honestly and truly feel that you could face death or loss and maintain your identification with consciousness knowing that you are simply witnessing the death experience without identifying with that which is dying, you are well on your way. IMPORTANT: If you are currently depressed or in chronic pain, or have experienced a lot of depression or pain, you may very well have a death wish. When you have a death wish, it seems like you have no fear of dying because your desire to eliminate the pain you feel has overpowered your survival instinct, and so asking yourself if you are afraid of your own death will not yield an accurate answer. (As someone who spent too much of his own adult life with a powerful death wish, this is something I know too much about!) In this case, asking yourself if you fear your own death will not yield the information we’re looking for; instead, apply the question to a person or animal that you love the most. As you move from the Victor to the Vehicle state, you will slowly disassociate from the persona or “false I”, and instead start to see and understand the truth that You are the act of pure perception where your mind, body, personality, etc. are simply the vehicles for this divine perception. You’ll see that your persona is nothing more than an abstraction or a fictional character – like Harry Potter or Darth Vader and when you see this, your life will no longer revolve entirely around serving it or its agenda. As you continue to embody Awakening, you will identify more and more strongly with consciousness instead of ego and personality, eventually leading to complete unity, which we might call Masterhood, Ascension, or Enlightenment.
