I understand that my son/daughter will not be allowed on the Otsego County Fairgrounds unless properly chaperoned by an enrolled 4-H leader or a parent/guardian. I understand that Cornell Cooperative Extension Schoharie and Otsego Counties and all 4-H volunteer leaders involved in the implementation of 4-H Horse Camp will not be responsible for chaperoning 4-H members, including my son/daughter.

Helmet Safety Agreement I understand that I am responsible for wearing an ASTM/SEI approved riding helmet at all times when I am working with or mounted on my horse during a 4-H Horse Event. I understand that I am the only one who can wear my riding helmet and that I cannot share my helmet with others and that sharing of helmets is not allowed. I understand that the riding and showing of horses can be dangerous and I accept responsibility for any injury or harm incurred to myself, my horse or others.

Camp Breakfast Horse Camp Show Camper Check Out

Checking in to 4-H Horse Camp -After entering the fairgrounds, please stop at the Inspection Tent in front of the 4-H Horse Barn -Show copies of current Rabies and Negative EIA Test for Project Horse BEFORE UNLOADING -Get stall assignment, settle in horses, unload tack and equipment, etc. -Go to Announcer’s Stand to check into Horse Camp and receive your 4-H Horse Camp Kit -Present helmet for inspection and ensure all paperwork is signed and completed -Submit Camper/Tent, Pizza Party and Stall Deposit fees Checking Out of Horse Camp -Before leaving camp, please notify a volunteer at the Announcer’s Stand that you are leaving -You will receive a Horse Camp Certificate and can take your 4-H Horse Stall card home with you -Your horse’s stall will be inspected and must be cleaned to have stall deposit refunded 4-H Horse Camp Rules -All 4-H Horse Science Issue Committee members and 4-H Horse Program Leaders have the authority to enforce 4-H Horse Camp Rules -All participants MUST complete and sign the Acknowledgement of Risk form and registration packet -All riders must enroll in 4-H Horse Camp at their evaluated riding level on their 4-H Project Horse -There will be no riding evaluations offered at 4-H Horse Camp -Showmanship 101 & Showmanship Class at the Horse Camp Show are required (Sr/Jr/Pony/WTC/WT) -Horses are to be walked outside of the rings, NO trotting or cantering on the track or the infield -Riders must dismount prior to entering the 4-H Horse Barn -The 4-H Horse Barn aisles, exits and entryways must be kept clear at all times -Horses are not to be left unattended tied or tacked up in their stalls -Horses are to be ridden in the rings or designated areas and can only be ridden during daylight hours -Riders, including adults, must wear an ASTM/SEI approved helmet and appropriate footwear -Cloverbuds must have their chaperones or parent/guardian or 4-H leaders with them at all times -Stallions and dogs are prohibited, no exceptions. -Violators will be suspended from 4-H Horse Camp without refund and may be deemed ineligible from future events, including exhibiting at the County Fair

**Please note** Restrooms will be available at Horse Camp, however given that the event falls well before the County Fair, there may or not be hot water available. Meals at Horse Camp -Breakfast and lunch are provided to 4-H Campers free of charge -Breakfast and lunch are available to camp guests for a donation -All are welcome to bring their own food and meals to camp, including grills -All are invited to join the Friday Night Pizza Party for $5 per person donation -All are welcome to join the Saturday Night Potluck dinner free of charge -Please indicate on the registration form if you’d like to bring a dish to pass (refrigeration available) -If you indicate yes, we will contact you before Horse Camp to coordinate dishes for the potluck dinner -Bottled water will be available throughout the weekend for a small donation -All food, beverage, and shirt donations go directly to covering the costs to operate 4-H Horse Camp

Showmanship and Trail can be shown either Western or Hunt Seat, but not both There are no entry fees, registration is included in the 4-H Horse Camp Fee Ribbons will be awarded using the Danish System Appropriate show attire is required All campers must exhibit in Showmanship, with exception to Lead Line and Cloverbuds Classes may be combined or split as deemed appropriate by the 4-H Horse Science Committee Break for lunch will take place midday Trail will be run in the warm-up ring from approximately 11 AM-3 PM Judge’s decision is final on all placings
