The Camco* type A-3 Series Velocity Safety Valve is designed to prevent wells from overproducing or blowing out in the event of an emergency. The A-3 is differen al pressure-operated and set to close at a predetermined rate of flow. The A-3 can be adjusted to close at different flow rates by changing the spring, using spring spacers, and/or varying the inside diameter of the valve’s replaceable flow tube choke bean†. The A-3 Series Velocity Safety Valve is designed to operate in a “normally open” posi on during normal well flow, has an unlimited se ng depth and, are suitable for corrosive environments. The valves are available with working pressure ra ngs to 10,000 psi [68,900 kPa]. The A-3 is available in a variety of materials. They feature the field-proven Camco* type flapper-closure system. This premium flapper has full, metal-to-metal sealing plus a secondary so seat, and meets leakageacceptance criteria of API 14A. The A-3 Series Velocity Safety Valve can be provided as a cer fied subsurface controlled subsurface safety valve (SSCSSV) under API 14A (current edi on) upon request. Addi onal charges may apply. The A-3 runs with an appropriate lock adapter and equalizing Sub. OperaƟon Type A-3 Series Velocity Safety Valve is to be installed on an appropriate lock†† and the assembly inserted into the appropriate landing nipple ‡ using correconal slickline methods. Open The A-3 is “normally open”. A spring-loaded flow tube holds the flapper open to allow flow through the valve’s ID.

Wireline Retrievable Surface Controlled Close The A-3 closes when differen al pressure across the valve’s choke bean reaches a predetermined rate. When the selected pressure differen al is reached, a flow tube moves upward, closing the flapper which shuts in produc on flow.
