Source: Brian Jones, “Michigan Profile for Healthy Youth Participation (MiPHY) Increases Significantly”, LISD Board Report, June 2014 The Michigan Profile for Healthy Youth (MiPHY) is an online student health survey offered by the Michigan Departments of Education and Community Health to support local and regional needs assessment every other year. The MiPHY provides student results on health risk behaviors including substance use, violence, physical activity, nutrition, sexual behavior, and emotional health in grades 7, 9, and 11. The survey also measures risk and protective factors most predictive of alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use and violence. In the 2011-2012 school year, nine buildings in five districts participated. In 20132014, the numbers increased to fourteen buildings in eight districts. Data from the MiPHY is returned to the home district for use in their health and physical education classes as well as, being compiled into County-wide for comparison. This Countywide data is also used by the Lenawee Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition and the Lenawee Health Network when applying for grants. The LISD supports local districts by offering an LISD employee administer the survey to reduce costs associated with substitutes for staff. The Lenawee Health/PE curriculum group also uses the data in their classrooms. Individual schools receive their own data but only the county-wide aggregate data is shared publically. https://mdoe.state.mi.us/schoolhealthsurveys/ExternalReports/CountyReportGeneration.aspx
