Brownsover Community School For Brownsover Community School the admissions authority is set by the Local Education Authority. The admissions authority is responsible for determining and publishing the admission arrangements for its schools and nurseries, including the criteria for dealing with over subscription. We have places for children either in the mornings or the afternoons not both sessions (you will need to contact Bridges on 01788 547639 to arrange for any wrap around care). In the event that the Government increases the number of Free Hours Nursery Entitlement, we reserve the right to provide these extra hours through Bridges.
Admission Criteria 1. Children in the care of, or provided with accommodation by, a local authority (under section 22 of the Children Act 1989) 2. Children living in the priority area who will have a sibling at the school at the time of admission 3. Other pupils living in the priority area 4. Children living outside the priority area who will have a sibling at the school at the time of admission 5. Other children living outside the priority area Within these criteria priority is given in order of distance between the child’s home and school (shortest distance = highest priority). Distance will be calculated by the straight line measurement from the address point location coordinate of the applicant’s home address (as set by Ordnance Survey) to the centre point (“centroid”) of the preferred school. (All measurements are subject to prepositional changes) This applies equally to those living inside and outside the county’s boundary. The priority area is as defined in the schools Eastern Area booklet.
