April Ushers in LWML District Conventions Oklahoma District - April 13-14

English District - April 20-22

The LWML Oklahoma District met in Guthrie, Oklahoma, under the theme “You Will Be My Witnesses” based on Acts 1:8. LWML Oklahoma District President Bev England presided over her second convention, which boasted an attendance of 265. Susan Brunkow was elected to serve as president for the next four years. Bible study leader Donna Pyle shared, “You don’t witness by living and staying in a safe Christian Bubble! Otherwise, the disciples would never have left Jerusalem and do what they did!”

Shirley Holle, LWML English District President, lowered the gavel for her first convention based on the theme “Rejoice ... Bloom … Shout for Joy!” Isaiah 35:1-2a was the Bible passage explored by the 106 convention participants. LCMS English District President Stechholtz said, "You are beautiful women of godly service in your congregations, schools, communities, our Synod, and District to seek, find, reach and lead the lost to the world's only Savior, Christ Jesus."

California-Nevada-Hawaii District - April 20-22 Rohnert Park, California was the site for the LWML California-Nevada-Hawaii (CNH) District Convention. Officiating over the first convention of her term, LWML District President Marcia Houseworth welcomed 277 convention attendees as they were invited with the theme “Extreme Service” based on 1 Peter 4:10-11. LCMS District President Robert Newton shared a time when a former pagan priest in New Guinea, on the one year anniversary of the death of his granddaughter, asked “Can you teach me to sing resurrection songs?”

Kansas District - April 20-22 Betty Kruse, LWML Kansas District President, led the second convention gathering of her term under the theme “Stand at the Crossroads” based on Jeremiah 6:16. Convention attendees saw Karen Morrison elected to serve the next four year term as LWML Kansas District President. Following her visit to the Haskell Lighthouse, LWML President Kay Kreklau shared, “I am thanking God for His grace and allowing me these special times to see where His work is being done through LWML mites.”
