Shane gave both a personal and professional example of meeting two influential people that helped him accomplish his goals. The key was to let others know about it. In both situations, Shane let his family, friends and business peers know about what he wanted. He was clear in his mind and his words. What about you? Do you know exactly what you want? If you’ve gone through this course you should have a solid idea about what it is that you want and how you’re going to get it. If you’re not, here are some questions to ask yourself:      

What do you want? What is the desired outcome? Is it clear? Is it concise? Can you articulate what you want to someone you just met? Would you have to explain it differently to someone you already know? Are you using the right words for the audience? Have you done your homework? Do you know what objections they might have? Do you know how to overcome them? Do you know what are the right questions to ask?

These questions should get you thinking. It’s true, you could very well be one relationship away from a big breakthrough. But, you have to take action. Often times, however, in our search for the “right person”, we’re going to meet someone who, like a wolf in sheep’s clothing, appears to be the right person but isn’t. We’ve all been scammed or conned by someone before. Maybe they confused us with their words and sold us a faulty car. Or maybe they pulled a bait and switch on a business deal costing us money. Regardless of how we were duped, we feel like we let ourselves down. We’re human, it happens. However, like all things in life, it’s through failures like these that we are meant to learn a lesson. After all, failure is life’s greatest teacher. Success, on the other hand, is where preparation meets opportunity. If you’re seeking success, whether it’s starting a business, cashing in on some real estate or living the life of a digital nomad, you need to be prepared. By consistently putting in the time and effort you’ll be ready for when that opportunity arrives. You don’t know when or who might introduce you to it so all you can do is focus on what you can control, your preparation.
