BLENDED STUDENT APPLICATION 2016-2017 TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THE ORANGE LUTHERAN HIGH SCHOOL BLENDED PROGRAM THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS MUST BE MET BY ALL STUDENTS:
• A 2.0 GPA or higher in both Online and Campus classes, both cumulative and the semester prior to becoming a Blended student. In order to be allowed to continue as a Blended student the following year, a 2.0 GPA must be maintained. •
Campus Counselor Approval (to be obtained by the Blended Academic Advisor).
• 10TH-12TH Grade students must take and pass Online Health with a B- or higher. •

ORANGE LUTHERAN ONLINE TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS I, the parent/guardian of _____________________________________________understand and support my student in their application and acceptance into the Orange Lutheran High School “Blended” Online program. I understand that the mission and core values of OLHS will be upheld in each course. I also understand that these courses are to be taken at home, under my supervision, while the student is not in physical attendance at school. • I understand that the following technology requirements are needed at home: i. Microsoft Windows or Macintosh Operating System ii. Most updated versions of Flash Player and Java iii. Microsoft Office** iv. Internet v. Headset and microphone for Spanish course **Mac users: You must use Microsoft Office or a free version such as openoffice.org. Mac equivalents, such as Keynote, Pages, Numbers, etc. will NOT work with the OLO learning system. The iPad has limited use in the online classroom, it is best if the student uses a laptop or desktop computer for submitting all assignments to ensure assignments are not lost when submitting into dropboxes. • •
I understand that these classes are rigorous and work at an accelerated pace, covering the same material in half the time as a traditional on-ground class. BLENDED STUDENTS MAY TAKE A MAXIMUM OF FOUR UNITS ON CAMPUS. FRESHMEN-JUNIORS ARE REQUIRED TO TAKE AT LEAST 3 ONLINE CLASSES. SENIORS ARE REQUIRED TO TAKE AT LEAST 2 ONLINE CLASSES.

SCHEDULES MUST ADD UP TO AT LEAST 7 UNITS FRESHMAN, SOPHOMORE AND JUNIOR YEAR. A SENIOR’S SCHEDULE MUST ADD UP TO AT LEAST 6 UNITS.

ADDITIONAL TUITION FEES WILL BE CHARGED FOR MORE THAN NINE UNITS OF ONLINE AND CAMPUS COURSES COMBINED, COURSES FOR REMEDIATION AND COURSES TAKEN DURING THE SUMMER SESSION.

BLENDED STUDENTS WILL BE HELD TO THE SAME STANDARDS AND CODES OF CONDUCT AS THE FULL TIME CAMPUS STUDENTS, WHICH CAN BE FOUND IN THE PARENT-STUDENT HANDBOOK.

THE BLENDED PROGRAM IS A ONE-YEAR COMMITMENT. STUDENTS HAVE THE OPTION TO CHANGE THEIR STATUS EACH YEAR. **REQUESTS FOR MID-YEAR STATUS CHANGES WILL ONLY BE CONSIDERED UNDER DIRE CIRCUMSTANCES. REQUESTS ARE TO BE MADE IN WRITING AND WILL BE REVIEWED BY AN ADMINISTRATOR FOR APPROVAL.
