What better way to experience a farmers market, than by the bay! There’s a certain charm to a farmers market. The smell of scones and hot coffee on a fresh Saturday morning has a knack of carrying us away from the hustle and bustle of our often busy lives, taking us to a place where community and kinship rules the roost. And there’s none more charming than the Bayside Farmers Market. The market takes place on the third Saturday of the month and boasts over 80 stalls offering fruit and veg, spreads, meat, baked goods, condiments, plants and herbs, beer and wine, and there’s even a children’s petting zoo too! It’s the perfect way to kick off the weekend. As we wind back the clocks once again for the end of another daylight saving, it’s also a great opportunity to take advantage of that extra autumn hour on a Saturday morning, and grab something savory or sweet (or both!) while you have a wander along the market amid the seaside breeze. Sure, Summer might be behind us, but as the mornings become more crisp, so too do the vegetables that make up those much loved hearty Winter feasts. Entry into the Bayside Farmers Market requires a $2 contribution per person that goes towards the various community based programs and projects organised by the good folk at Hampton and Sandringham Rotary Clubs. So far, the Bayside Farmers Market has raised over $200,000 for these projects. Just some of the initiatives this money helps with include providing swags for the homeless, helping disadvantaged locals with gardening projects, setting up the Bayside Toy Library, and organising horse riding programs for the disabled. Brighton Nissan has been a proud supporter of the Bayside Farmers Market since 2014, and we’re delighted to have a long standing association with the Rotary Club of Hampton, sharing their passion for helping those in need. We feel it’s our duty to give back to the community, and in addition to employing many of our wonderful team from surrounding suburbs, we couldn’t be happier than to further engage with locals by supporting the Bayside Farmers Market and the Rotary volunteers that make it such a wonderful monthly event.
