THE SERIES: First meeting. NJCU has never faced any current member of the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC). SEEDINGS: NJCU is seeded #4 in this year’s tournament; Brockport is the #5 seed. The winner will meet the winner of top-seeded Richard Stockton College (12-7-2) and #8 seed SUNY Old Westbury (11-8) in the ECAC Semifinals on Saturday. If Stockton wins, the semifinals and finals will be held in Pomona, NJ and the semifinal games will be at 1 and 3 p.m. ECAC HISTORY: NJCU is appearing in the post-season for the second time in program history. Last year, NJCU went 1-1 in the ECACs as the No. 3 seed, defeating Mount Saint Mary, 7-2, in a home quarterfinal game, before losing to eventual champion William Paterson. DEFENDING CHAMPS: Brockport is the twotime defending ECAC Upstate New York champions, having claimed titles in 2008 and 2009. METRO/UPSTATE: The 2010 season marks the first time that the ECAC has combined the Metro and Upstate Regions into a single bracket. SETTING THE BAR: NJCU has already achieved a single-season record for victories with its 14-7 mark; last year the Knights were 13-9. ALL-NJAC: NJCU landed five players on the All-NJAC team this season. Julia Caseres and Jennifer Albuja each were selected All-NJAC for the third time in their careers; Ashley Cunha and Katlin Vargo earned a spot for the second straight year and Laura Robinson was a first-time pick. Caseres, the all-time leading scorer among men’s or women’s players in NJAC history with 77 goals and 185 points in just three seasons and 62 games, was named Second-Team All-NJAC; Albuja, Cunha, Robinson and Vargo were Honorable Mention. LEADING THE EAGLES: Brockport is led by junior goalie Erin Asquith, a Second-Team All-SUNYAC selection, who owns a 1.02 goals against average and has pitched four shutouts. Abby Smith led the Golden Eagles with eight goals. Sarah Lawson has delivered a school record and SUNYAC-best 13 assists. Jess Bush was named Third-Team All-SUNYAC.
