$50k funding provided by FHWA to “seed” the establishment of a clearinghouse: Developed a detailed plan Identified possible content and features Recommended a framework and architecture

Requested Commitment -- $15k for three years ($45,000 total) Participation includes membership on steering
committee
Contractors Texas A&M Transportation Institute (TTI) ○ System design, content development, quality assurance American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA) ○ Marketing, outreach, promotion, technical input
Provide strategies for addressing the three aspects of roadway departure: keep vehicles on road; provide opportunity to recover; minimize severity of crash
“One-stop shop” or “go-to place” for all information related to roadway departure/roadside safety Actively managed and maintained User friendly – easy to find & access information Interactive features
