Fair Value Level Manager The Fair Value Level Manager is found in the Tools menu and allows users to view and set the Fair Value Levels by Security Type. Selections made within this tool flow through the Clearwater system including the FAS 157 Disclosure report.
SECURITY TYPE ASSIGNMENTS Within the Fair Value Level Manager, users will have the ability to assign general Fair Value Levels for all Security Types that they would like to designate. This will classify all current securities, as well as future purchases to the Level designated. Access to this tool is restricted to users approved by client administrators. To gain access, please contact your Account Manager to discuss. By default, Cash is set to Level 1 and all other levels are Unspecified. Initial Fair Value assignments made at the Security Type level through the Fair Value Level Manager will be effective since account inception. If a user later changes a Level for a Security Type that had previously been set, the change will be effective as of the date selected in the account drop-down menu.
After the user designates levels by Security Type, clicking Save will prompt a message to notify the user that their changes have successfully saved. Fair Value Level changes will be visible immediately on the FAS 157 Disclosure report after the Level has been set.

FAIR VALUE LEVEL OVERRIDES On the FAS 157 Disclosure reports, users with permission can override Fair Value Levels for individual securities. Users will override a specific security when they believe it is an exception to the levels set through the Fair Value Level Manager. Note that Cash is always listed as Level 1 and cannot be overriden to another level.
Users with permission will see an Override button on the FAS 157 Disclosure report. After clicking Override, a pop-up box will appear that allows the user to designate the Level of that security. The user can choose a specific effective date to make the change or select “Effective Since Inception.”
Once an override has been entered and saved, a dialog box will pop-up to notify the user that their change has taken effect.
If you have any questions about this process or would like more information, please contact your Clearwater Account Manager.
