January 10, 2016 Each week, we encourage you to use this conversation starter with family or friends to dig deeper into the truth of Scripture brought up during the Sunday message. Share one positive word you would use to describe each of your siblings or parents? Read Genesis 37:111. • In these verses, Joseph was given two dreams about what his future might hold in store. Has there ever been a time where you felt like God gave you a glimpse into something that he wanted you to do in the future? What was it and has it become a reality in your life? Read Genesis 37:1228. • In this passage, we see that Joseph’s brothers were vehemently opposed to Joseph, so much so, that they wanted to kill him. Have you experienced focused opposition against you in the past? How did this opposition affect you and how did you respond? Read Genesis 37:2936 • When Reuben finds out that Joseph has been sold into slavery and when his father “learns” of his death” both are deeply distressed and mourn greatly. As you think about a tragic or difficult time in your life, how have you experienced God’s presence with you in your mourning? • Though Joseph's circumstances are bleak, what silver linings do you already see God weaving throughout this chapter of Joseph’s life? • As you look back on your past experiences, particularly those of opposition, failure, or loss, where might there be some silver linings of where God was working even when you couldn’t see it at the time? • Throughout this chapter we see that there’s more God in every situation than we think. With this in mind, how might you need to change the way you go through difficult situations in the future?
