2016 Colors of the Year AmericasMart and REstyleSOURCE are thrilled to present the PANTONE® Design Exhibition in collaboration with the Pantone Color Institute®. For the first time Pantone has introduced two shades, Rose Quartz and Serenity, as the PANTONE Color of the Year 2016. These colors demonstrate an inherent balance between a warmer embracing rose tone and the cooler tranquil blue, reflecting connection and wellness as well as a soothing sense of order and peace.

Building 1 Lobby This feminine twist on an office space is the perfect showcase for Pantone’s Colors of the Year, Rose Quartz and Serenity. Softly textured upholstered pieces and artwork draw their inspiration from clouds, and find a perfect balance when paired with white natural accents like quartz and shell to bring them back down to earth. Brilliant touches of gold illuminate this creative workspace, a modern and sophisticated haven full of texture and style.

J. Hirsch Interior Design has been designing award-winning interiors for over 25 years. Janie Hirsch, ASID, graduated from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of Interior Design from the School of Architecture. Janie, a Louisiana native and the daughter of an architect and watercolor artist, landed on her feet in Atlanta following a stint in New York City working for a lighting designer. She has designed homes from Georgia and Alabama to Louisiana and Florida and has received numerous local, regional, and national design awards for personal homes, show houses, and model homes. What made you decide on this Pantone palette for your vignette? The Lineage Pantone Palette has rich color that gives a feeling of history, as though stories have been shared during dinner parties over the years. What design tip do you have for us? Collect treasures from your travels that will have meaning and a story so you can surround yourself with the things that you love. Be sure to stop by Janie’s Market Must-Sees:

Palette: Lineage Lineage implies a “family tree” conveying a more traditional style. But today’s so-called “heritage” look often takes on an unconventional adaptation where a sense of whimsy and a more au courant touch can override a serious attitude.

Heather Hogan Roberts Ivy and Vine | ivyandvine.com 1801 Piedmont Avenue NE Atlanta, GA 30324 646.246.4010

[email protected]

Heather brings her unique aesthetic to interior spaces through the use of bright colors, high gloss finishes, vintage and custom-designed pieces. Her residential work has included homes in Atlanta, Illinois, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, South Carolina, Virginia and Washington, DC. Heather’s custom furnishings and textile business, Ivy and Vine, focuses on curating and restoring classic vintage pieces and has been featured in numerous publications. Prior to interior design, Heather spent more than a decade in New York City, working as the Fashion Director for ELLE, JANE, and Allure magazines.

What is the inspiration behind your Pantone vignette? Using the Bijoux palette and Prism Pink was the jumping off point for a little study with brightly-hued custom wallpaper and accents. The pineapple pattern wallpaper was original to a house in Macon, GA (from the 1920’s), and I collaborated with my friend Sharon Lee of Krane Wallpaper to make it custom and come to life again in a modern setting, and color-matching Prism Pink. Since Bijoux means “jewels,” you will see some amethyst and gold accents throughout. Be sure to stop by Heather’s Market Must-Sees:

Golden Oldies B1 6-A1

Palette: Bijoux In the French language, Bijoux literally means “jewelry.” Gleaming with drama and intensity, the light reflective quality that is expressed in this grouping lends itself beautifully to pellucid transparencies in glass, resins, acrylics, mosaic tile and various lighting effects.

What is the inspiration behind your Pantone vignette? Dichotomy was perfect for me because I am currently renovating my own home and each color is practically living somewhere in my house. I am actually using the same Lee Industries sofa I just ordered for my own home in my space. I am also obsessed with the tables from Modern History, and I found the perfect pendant from Currey. What entertaining tip do you have for us? Pull greens from your garden or yard for the table. Some of my favorite arrangements have come from there for a table and they don’t cost a dollar. Palette: Dichotomy Dichotomy reinforces the concept that ancient artifacts can live happily with cool contemporary shapes and shades. There are opposites of finish and color that do and can attract creating a refreshingly modern day atmosphere. Metals contrast with rock and stone, smooth surfaces can support nubby or deeply imprinted textures and subtle weathered tones remind us of time-worn architecture.

CLOTH & KIND is a nationally recognized residential & commercial interior design firm led by principals Tami Ramsay & Krista Nye Schwartz, with office locations in Athens, GA and Ann Arbor, MI. The pair is renowned for their collaborative approach to the design process and specifically for their ability to create spaces with history and heart, with story and substance. Each project is layered with a meticulous mix of one-of-a-kind finds and finishes and a heavy dose of unique and custom textiles, curated art and furnishings. CLOTH & KIND’s design aesthetic is always classic and patinaed with a modern vibe and a worldly influence. What is the inspiration behind your Pantone vignette? We were drawn to Pantone’s Soft Focus palette and almost immediately envisioned an artist’s studio, and the beautiful chaos that such a space allows and encourages, as a setting within which we could best bring these hues to life. We built our vignette choices around what could be found in a young art collector’s study: gorgeous abstracts, artisinal textiles, vintage rugs and art books. We imagined a beautiful mess, a place full of color and texture and natural elements. Be sure to stop by Tami and Krista’s Market Must-Sees:

Palette: Soft Focus Soft Focus; a place between pastels and mid-tones. Subtle and/or muted, sometimes described as “smoky” and pleasingly versatile, they are often married to a variety of other like shades. Whether in striated, layered or veiled patterning where, when used in combinations, one color blends effortlessly into another.

Palette: Mixed Bag A “mixed bag” is just that – an assortment of eclectic patterns and prints that are drawn primarily from diverse cultures and a multi-national influence, yet when used together spawn a dynamic and eye-arresting array of colors and combinations. Some are familiar, but no less exciting, while others are more unique, demanding a second look.

What is the inspiration behind your Pantone vignette? My inspiration for our Pantone vignette stems from delicate and translucent materials such as glass, natural quartz and rock crystals, and petals in a flower. All can be transformed by light. My wife’s hobby is macro-photography of unique and rare flowers. There is nothing more striking than seeing a gorgeous bloom backlit by sunlight. Do you have any insider tips on shopping the Market? I use AmericasMart often because my office is nearby and I love that they have complimentary valet services now. It’s so easy to pop in even if it’s just for a few minutes if I need to! Palette: Ephemera Softly tinted, breezy, lighter than air, and as transitory as an evanescent bubble, Ephemera expresses a lightness of color. The delicacy of the shadings speaks volumes about its translation into the softness of tone and touch of these disarmingly charming tints.

What inspires your design work? I get inspiration from so many things in life…my travels, experiencing other cultures and their artisanal crafts, etc. I love architecture, nature, fashion, and basically all things which are beautiful!

What is the inspiration behind your Pantone vignette? Mid-Century modern meets raw luxury, earthy tones tying nature into our everyday living. The inspiration partially derives from my favorite hotel in Palm Springs called The Parker. I have also used inspiration from my travels across the globe. There are many things I come across that inspire and fill me with creative ideas; new combinations of colours, shapes, textures, materials etc, and I can’t wait to share the experience with others. Palette: Natural Forms Nature in its purest forms never ceases to instill a sense of wonder and awe. To surround oneself with the most organic shapes and colors seems natural and genuine.
