ECAC Announces Men's Soccer Players of the Week for Week Ending Sept. 24 9/26/2017 12:10:25 PM

DANBURY, Conn. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced the Men’s Soccer Players of the Week for the week ending Sept. 24.   DIVISION II Offensive Player of the Week Tyler Rapposelli – JR, MF, West Chester University of Pennsylvania   Rapposelli was phenomenal this week for the Golden Rams, tallying four goals in a pair of matches as West Chester remains undefeated in conference play. The junior registered a hat trick on the road against the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown. ECAC - ECAC Announces Men's Soccer Players of the Week for Week Ending Sept. 24

  Defensive Player of the Week Jorge Hernandez – SR, GK, Gannon University   Hernandez only allowed one goal in three matches for the Golden Knights. The senior goalie pitched back-to-back shutouts in a 2-0 win against Shippensburg University and a 0-0 draw with Slippery Rock. Opponents haven’t scored on Hernandez in 200+ minutes.   Rookie of the Week Alex Lee Yaw – FR, F, Gannon University   Lee Yaw had a two-goal performance against Daemen on Tuesday. The second goal ended up being the gamewinner for the freshman. Against Shippensburg, Lee Yaw assisted Mathias Krigbaum on the game-winning goal for the Golden Knights. Lee Yaw leads the team in assists with four.

  DIVISION III - METRO Offensive Player of the Week Fabio DeSousa – SO, F, Rutgers University-Newark   DeSousa, the reigning NJAC Rookie of the Year, helped the No. 11/4 Scarlet Raiders to a perfect 3-0-0 week. He netted three goals (one in each game), including the game winners in nonconference victories over Mount St. Mary and Albright. The sophomore also tallied an insurance marker in a 2-0 win over Kean. DeSousa netted his three goals on just six total shots. DeSousa currently ranks second in the NJAC with 16 points on seven goals and two assists.   Defensive Player of the Week Dan Sulpizio – SR, GK, DeSales University

31 shots while allowing no goals in 207 minutes of action. He made four saves on 17 shots in a 1-0 doubleovertime win against Muhlenberg. Sulpizio then made eight saves on 14 shots in a 1-0 double-overtime win over Lancaster Bible College. The senior now has five shutouts this season.   Rookie of the Week                                                                                                                                 Walter Salmeron – FR, D, New Jersey City University   Salmeron lead NJCU to a 2-2 draw with TCNJ in the lone game of the week for the Gothic Knights. He scored two game-tying goals including the final goal in the 75th minute to force a draw. The freshman helped the Gothic Knights snap TCNJ’s five-game win streak in the series and avenge last year’s 7-0 loss. Salmeron leads the NJCU squad this season with seven points on three goals and an assist.     DIVISION III – NORTH Offensive Player of the Week/ Rookie of the Week Given Holy Gbode – FR, F, Medaille College   Gbode was nearly unstoppable on the offensive side of the field this week, scoring five goals and adding an assist in two games. Gbode started the week by netting a hat trick against Thiel College, helping Medaille defeat the Tomcats 4-1. He followed that up with two more goals and an assist in the conference opener against Mount Aloysius.   Defensive Player of the Week Andrew Mastovich – SO, D, Pennsylvania State University- Behrend   Mastovich notched three corner kick goals to help the Lions win both games this week. His dominance started when he buried the game-tying goal against Geneva to even the score at 1-all. The sophomore continued by tallying two goals against Pitt-Greensburg, including the game-winner at the 20th minute mark. He also led Behrend's defensive play to hold Pitt-Greensburg to only two shots the entire game.

  DIVISION III – SOUTH Offensive Player of the Week Tyler Skye – SR, F, Lebanon Valley College   Skye recorded six points on two goals and two assists to lead the Dutchmen to a 2-0 week. He assisted on the game’s first goal, the game-winner, in a 2-0 road win over previously unbeaten No. 20 Gettysburg to begin the week. The senior then scored two goals and added an assist in a 4-0 win over Keystone.

Defensive Player of the Week Cam Avery – SR, GK, Lebanon Valley College                                                                           Avery was stellar in goal for the Dutchmen earning two shutout victories last week. The senior made 11 saves on 28 shots over 180 minutes of action. He opened the week with five saves on 14 shots in a 2-0 road victory over previously unbeaten No. 20 Gettysburg. Avery made several point-blank saves in the win, and then made six saves on 14 shots in a 4-0 win over Keystone to pick up his fifth win of the season. He now has a 0.43 goals-against average.   Rookie of the Week Nick Irequi – FR, F, Westminster College   Iregui helped the Titans to a 2-0 record last week, scoring a team-high four goals. He registered a hat trick in Westminster’s 9-0 win at Carlow.
