About the Eagles Grace Delleman registered her first three-hit game of the season and Shannon Whitmus tossed her 10th complete game, but the Edgewood College softball team opened conference play with winless record in four games against Lakeland University and Wisconsin Lutheran. The Eagles dropped a pair of NACC openers to Lakeland after being no-hit in 8-0 game one defeat and losing game two, 9-5, despite Delleman’s three hits. After being held scoreless in the first nine innings of the day, the Eagle offense came alive with five runs in the final three innings of 9-5, game two defeat. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to overcome a seven-run outburst by Lakeland (8-8, 2-0 NACC) in the fourth inning. In their home opener on Sunday afternoon, the Eagles suffered a pair of defeats to Wisconsin Lutheran, 9-1, and 10-1, after the Warriors utilized a five-run inning in game one and eight-run outburst in game two on Saturday afternoon. Junior starter Shannon Whitmus (2-13) tossed her 10th complete game of the year in game one, but couldn’t overcome a five-run, third inning by the Warriors (5-9, 2-0 NACC) in a 9-1 defeat. Whitmus also struck out four and allowed nine runs (five earned).

About the Spartans Aurora is 13-5, 4-0 in NACC play and currently riding a six-game win streak. The Spartans have won three of their four NACC games by run rule and recently swept Concordia Chicago, 9-8, and 9-1. Elaine Walker sports a .444/.470/.746 line, leads the NACC in slugging percentage, and ranks second in the conference with 21 RBI. Eleven of Walker’s 28 hits have gone for extra bases and includes three home runs. Starter Britni Wilson leads the Spartans with a 6-2 record, and 2.83 ERA.
