On January 21st, millions of people around the world came together to raise their voices to protect legislation and policies regarding human rights and other issues,
including women's rights, immigration reform, healthcare reform, the natural environment, LGBTQ rights, racial equality, freedom of religion, and workers' rights. The rallies were also aimed at Donald Trump, immediately following his inauguration as President of the United States, largely due to statements and positions attributed to him regarded by many as misogynistic or otherwise reprehensible. It is the largest singleday demonstration in U.S. history. The march drew at least 500,000 people in Washington, and some estimates put worldwide participation at 4.8 million.
