Day 1: Syracuse Cycling: Time TBD Lodging:

Highlights: Arrive Syracuse, check in and then spend some time exploring. Be sure to check out the Erie Canal Museum in Syracuse. We’ll arrange a time with you to provide your full trip orientation.
Day 2: Buffalo to Niagara Falls 8:00 AM Cycling: Lodging:
Transportation to Buffalo 22 miles Niagara Falls
Highlights: Our morning shuttle gets you to Buffalo and to the start of your tour. Today’s distance is only 22 miles of easy cycling with great scenery, and the shorter distance leaves plenty of time to explore worldrenowned Niagara Falls and the surrounding area. Bring your passport so you can visit Niagara Falls Canada, too!
Day 3: Niagara Falls to Medina Cycling: Lodging:
37 miles (approx. 20 on road to Lockport) Medina
Highlights: Leaving Niagara behind, you continue on to Lockport, home of the famous Flight of Five Locks considered the engineering marvel of its day, and an amazing first encounter with the Erie Canal. After your visit, continue along the canal where we recommend a stop at Spring Lake Winery. Relax in their beautiful vineyard café and enjoy lunch and wine tasting!
Day 4: Medina to Brockport Cycling: Lodging:
27 miles ( < 2 miles on road to hotel) Brockport
Highlights: Traveling onward from Medina enjoy easy, scenic cycling, all on the bike trail, offering plenty of interesting canal features, beautiful rolling farmlands, and Holley Falls, which makes a great stop for lunch. Grab a sandwich at Subway and picnic at the falls!
Day 5: Brockport to Fairport Cycling: Lodging:
32 miles ( approx. 4 on road to High Falls) Fairport
Highlights: Today you saddle up and glide your way through quaint Adams Basin and on to beautiful High Falls in downtown Rochester, a great place to stop and explore before continuing on to the scenic Pittsford Waterfront with great restaurants and artisan boutiques. We recommend a canal cruise on the Pam Patch!
Day 6: Fairport to Newark Cycling: Lodging:
22 miles Newark
Highlights: Leaving Fairport you’ll pass through several canal parks the most notable being Pal-Mac Aqueduct Park. Take time to explore the park, and to venture the ½ mile to Historic Palmyra Main Street where you’ll truly step back in time!
Day 7: Newark to Seneca Falls Cycling: Lodging:
25 miles (mostly road) Seneca Falls
Highlights: Today’s ride is only 25 miles which allows plenty of time to enjoy the beautiful scenery and beaches of Cayuga Lake, and the many Finger Lakes Wineries, as well as time to visit the Women’s Rights National Park, and the Knitting Mill civil war historic site.
Day 8: Seneca Falls to Syracuse Cycling: Lodging:
38 miles (approx. 15 on road) Syracuse
Highlights: Leaving Seneca Falls you’ll cycle through Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge as you make your way back to the Erie Canalway Trail. Along the route you’ll enjoy fantastic canal parks including Jordan Aqueduct Park and Nine Mile Creek Aqueduct which has been historical reconstructed to is original glory.
Day 9: Syracuse to Verona Cycling: Lodging:
27 miles Verona
Highlights: On to Verona! The canal scenery and features continue as you now venture to the East side of the Canal. Within 5 miles you reach Green Lakes State Park with beautiful scenery and excellent swimming; at approx. 10 miles, you reach Chittenango Landing Canal Boat Museum (included with this tour) and well worth a visit! Then enjoy a little nightlife in Verona with the many events and activities available at the Turning Stone Resort!
Day 10: Verona to Utica Cycling: Lodging:
34 miles Utica
Highlights: Heading out from Verona you reach beautiful Lock 21 Canal Park in approx. 10 miles, from there you continue on to Rome and your immersion into Revolutionary War History begins! You don’t need to be a
history buff to enjoy a visit to Fort Stanwix National Monument, rich in Revolutionary War and Native American history. Continuing along the trail you can also visit the USS Oriskany Museum and Oriskany Battlefield before reaching Utica, your stay for this evening.
Day 11: Utica to Little Falls Cycling: Lodging:
22 miles (mostly on road) Little Falls
Highlights: Between Utica and Little Falls the bike trail follows scenic NYS bike routes providing the opportunity to cycle through many historic and quaint canal villages which coincide with New York’s Path Through History, where you can explore the places, events and heritage that shaped the early years of America.
Day 12: Little Falls to Amsterdam Cycling: Lodging:
43 miles Amsterdam
Highlights: Don’t be intimidated by today’s 43 mile ride, the downward slope is in your favor and is completely on the bike trail. Enjoy the easy cycling, beautiful natural scenery, and the many Revolutionary War sites you pass along the way including Herkimer Home, Fort Klock and Fort Johnson. Not to be missed is Schoharie Crossing State Historic Site and Lock 12,which is a great option for lunch or just relaxing!
Day 13: Amsterdam to Schenectady Cycling: Lodging:
30 miles Schenectady
Highlights: The easy cycling on the trail continues today, but today’s ride is rural and tranquil. There is only one point of interested along the way, Mabee Farm Historic Site, and it is well worth a stop to explore the beautiful buildings and gardens. Arriving in Schenectady there is plenty to do and see.
Day 14: Schenectady to Albany Cycling: Lodging:
20 miles Albany
Highlights: The last day of your tour is jam packed with things to see. Several canal features dot the way, and a 1 mile detour allows you to take in Cohoes Falls and a visit to Peebles Island which hosts the Erie Canalway National Park offices (stop and in say “Hi!”), not to mention the abundance of things to do and see in Albany, the Capitol of New York!
