MATERIALS

Bernat® Roving™ (3.5 oz/100 g; 120 yds/109 m) Cloverleaf (77222) 1 ball Set of five size U.S. 10½ (6.5 mm) double-pointed knitting needles or size needed to obtain gauge. Stitch marker. (Alternately use circular needles and then double-pointed needles for crown).

INSTRUCTIONS Ribbing With double-pointed needles, cast on 48 sts. Divide among 4 needles (12 sts on each needle). Join in rnd, placing marker on first st for beg of rnd. 1st rnd: *K1tbl. P1. Rep from * around. Rep last rnd of (K1tbl. P1) ribbing for 2" [5 cm].

3rd and 4th rnds: Knit. These 4 rnds form Texture Pat. Cont in pat until work from beg measures approx 8" [20 cm]. Shape top: 1st rnd: *K4. K2tog. Rep from * around. 40 sts. 2nd and alt rnds: Knit. 3rd rnd: *K3. K2tog. Rep from * around. 32 sts. 5th rnd: *K2. K2tog. Rep from * around. 24 sts. 7th rnd: *K2tog. Rep from * around. 12 sts. Break yarn, leaving a long end. Thread end through rem sts and draw up tightly. Fasten securely.
