Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Volleyball Players-of-the-Week Announced
(Sioux City, Iowa) – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following Volleyball players-of-the-week for contests played Sept. 4-10, 2017. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2017-2018 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program. Attacker – Ema Altena, Dordt College (Middle Blocker) Dordt’s Ema Altena is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Volleyball Attacker-of-the-Week. Altena, a junior, from Sioux Center, Iowa, averaged 5.88 kills per set and hit .340 for the week while putting down over 24 and 23 kills in a pair of wins over ranked teams for the Defenders. She also added 25 digs for the 5th-ranked Defenders who are now 14-2.
Setter – Lacey Wacker, Northwestern College Lacey Wacker of Northwestern College is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Volleyball Setter-of-the-Week. Wacker, a freshman from Jackson, Minnesota, averaged 12.7 assists per set and led a Red Raider offense that hit .330 for the week in wins over Buena Vista, Cardinal Stritch, St. Francis, Trinity Christian and Mount Mercy. Wacker also served 96% for the week and averaged one dig per set. Defender – Breanne Hankins, Briar Cliff University (Defensive Specialist) Briar Cliff libero Breanne Hankins is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Volleyball Defender-of-the-Week. Hankins, a senior from Johnstown, Colorado, had 99 digs in the five games for an average of 19.8 digs per match and an average of 5.8 digs per set. She had three games with at least 20 digs. She leads the Chargers, now 9-0 on the season, in digs with 159 and averages 5.13 digs per set.
