Submit an Event Registration Form(formely UUP)! This is required for event locations on Cornell’s campus.

Request and/or provide compostable/recyclable plates and utensils eliminate single-use products. Use dishware, tableware, tablecloths, and napkins that meet at least one of the following criteria: recycled content, reusable, recyclable and compostable. Look for sustainable purchasing options in E-shop.

Provide a water station with fillable water pitchers and reusable mugs in lieu of individual bottles of water. You may also contact Take

Back the Tap to borrow their water coolers for free!

Consider using reusable name badges! Staples, as a sustainable purchasing vendor, has options available.

Consider virtual conferencing. In order to reduce travel costs and fossil fuel use

Webex if in-person meetings are not necessary.

Compost your event! Ask your caterer if they compost. If no composting is available in your building, consider using Cayuga

Compost. Cornell Catering will compost your event for you. Consider using them if available and feasible for your event. Visit CU Compost to find out additional information and to learn how they may be able to help at your next event.

Green what you eat! Work with your selected caterer to create a menu that has as much of the following as possible: locally grown seasonal produce, organically grown foods, Fair Trade foods or beverages, vegetarian/vegan options. Donate excess food to Loaves &

Fishes.

Create and laminate signs that can be used again for future events. Eliminate waste and advertise your event online! Use online advertising and social media to promote your event instead of printed materials. Email fliers over listserves. Consider putting your event materials on a flash drive instead of paper. Promote the use of public transportation and car-pooling. Hire shuttles to transport participants to the event if it is off-campus.

Provide clearly labeled recycling bins. All of these can be in one bin - paper, cardboard, tin, glass, and plastics.
