GROUP STUDY QUESTIONS Hebrews: The Supremacy of Christ Don't Be A Drifter – Hebrews 2:1-4 Read the passage. What do you think it means to "drift away" in the Christian life? How do Christians "drift away?" According to v1 how do we avoid the danger of drifting away? What message did we hear that we are to “pay more careful attention to?” What does it mean to “pay more careful attention to” that message? Does this mean we are to “pay more careful attention to” the message of the gospel than other messages? If so, what are those other messages? Why are some of the messages we hear in today's culture such a powerful pull away from the truth of the message of the Gospel? According to vv2-3a, why is so dangerous to drift away? Why is the punishment for ignoring "such a great salvation" more severe than the punishment of ignoring the Old Covenant? The author seems to be saying we will not escape punishment if we neglect/ignore this great salvation. What do you think he means by this? In vv3b-4 it’s as if the author is telling us we should not ignore this salvation not just because it's great, but also because it's true. What are the 3 witnesses he lists that testify to the truth of salvation? Do you think God is still confirming His gospel by signs, wonders, various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit today or was that just what He did before the Bible was written? Why or why not? If you are a Christian and you have been drifting away or ignoring this great salvation, what should you do?
