Growth Group Questions Connect with others, have fun and grow spiritually. Join a growth group today. Sign up on your connection card or stop by the information booth. 1. Have you ever felt inadequate to serve God or share Christ

effectively with others? Of course you have. The truth is that we are all sinful and stumble in many ways all the time. So what should we do with our inadequacies? Should we just go silent? Stop sharing Christ or serving in ministry? Look again at Ex 3:11-12. How does God respond to Moses and his feelings of inadequacy? Of special interest is what God does NOT say.

2. After reading the first part of Exodus and hearing the

message Sunday, what do you think the name, ‘I AM’ tells us about God?

3. Read Ex 3:19, 5:2, & 7:22 . As people or nations drift away from the true knowledge of God, what attitudes and actions might we naturally expect to be displayed? (compare with 1 Peter 4:12-13)

4. God clearly targeted the gods of Egypt for His mighty

plagues. Their biggest god was the sun god, Ra and was targeted with the 9th plague of darkness. If God were to send 5 plagues on America, which gods might He target in order to prove His supremacy?

5. Read Ex 29:45-46. It’s easy, given the 10 plagues and

especially the angel of death killing the first born sons, that God is simply a God of judgment. However, according to the above passage, what is His true heart? What is His deepest desire?

Family Talk Points Bible Basis: Exodus 1—16:15 Key Verse: Exodus 14:13 Preschool/Elementary God provided for Moses through his entire life, and He provides for our family today. Share a story of God’s provision in your life. 1. How did God care for Moses when he was a baby? 2. How did God provide for the Israelites when they left Egypt? 3. How does God provide for you? Jr. High/High School Pharaoh was very stubborn and hardened his heart against God. Share a story where God was working in your life or trying to get your attention, but you didn’t see it until later. 1. Do you know a friend, teacher or relative who has hardened their heart against God and refuses to see Him? 2. Why do you think people stubbornly refuse to see God when He makes himself known in creation and everyday circumstances? 3. What can you do to open people’s eyes to the truth about God? 4. If somebody totally refuses to acknowledge God, what should you do? (Pray that the Holy Spirit softens their heart; continue to show them God’s love.)
