Dear Parents, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all your support over the past year and to thank all the staff for all their hard work and commitment to ensuring all our children have a good education. I am very fortunate to have excellent teaching and support staff and therefore can make decisions on class organisation based on the needs of our children. This year we have a number of staff changes as unfortunately some staff are leaving us at the end of the summer term. They will all be greatly missed by the staff and children alike and I wish them well for the future. Mrs Venables is leaving to take up a post closer to her home and I would like to thank her for being such a great foundation teacher for the last two terms. Mrs Morley has been a higher level teaching assistant and a valued member of staff at our school for 12 years and is leaving to take up a new career. Miss Hosking who has been working as a one to one teaching assistant and after school club play worker is leaving to move to a new area, she has made a great impression with children, staff and parents in the short time she has been with us. I am also really pleased to announce that Mrs Bolton and Mrs Brown are both expecting their first babies in the autumn term. Whilst they will be with us at the start of next academic year they will not have a class responsibility. We are pleased to welcome one new teacher and several new teaching assistants to join our staff team Mr Morgan (class teacher), Ms Chapman, Mrs Houghton, Mrs Fooks and Mrs Bedford (teaching assistants). Miss Donnelly, Miss Holloway and Miss Freeman are getting married in the summer holidays and will be using their married names of Mrs Pandit, Mrs Moore and Mrs Graham respectively in September. The children will be moving up to their next year group in their current class groups with the exception of current Year 1. This decision has been made to ensure that all of the children have an opportunity to continue their education within a balanced class with children of mixed ability. It also ensures that the children are able to work in an environment that assists them socially. The teaching staff and I have taken a lot of time to make the balance right and to ensure that children are placed with children that will enable them to learn in a happy and settled environment We are confident with our placements and would point out that it is not possible to change them. Following the children’s enthusiasm for the recent School and Great British Bird votes we have decided to use British birds to name our classes. Foundation and KS1 will be garden birds, Years 3 and 4 woodland birds and Years 5 and 6 coastal birds.

Year 2 will continue to be in the main building but are still in Key Stage 1 and will continue to use the Key Stage 1 hall for PE, lunch, assemblies and reading books. A plan of the classroom organisation for next year is attached to this letter. If your child is moving into Year 3 please can you arrange to meet them in either of the playgrounds and not outside their exit doors. Year 3 teachers will come out onto the playgrounds in the first week to help them to find you. The children will all have an opportunity to spend a morning with their new teacher and teaching assistants in their new classroom on Wednesday 8th July. There will be an opportunity for you and your child to meet your child’s new class teacher and visit your child’s new classroom between 3.30pm – 5.15pm on Wednesday 8th July. If you have any queries about any aspects of this letter, or the organisation of classes for September 2015 which is attached to this letter, please do not hesitate to see me. Yours truly,
Headteacher
