As part of the continuing development of the outdoor area we recently applied for the Awards for All lottery fund and found out during the summer that our bid was successful and that we will receive £10,000 to develop the woodland.
The project is called Hollingwood's Woodland Wonderland and aims to ensure that children in our community have the opportunity to learn and play outdoors in a safe environment. The school will work in collaboration with a company called Community Growth, who are a local company specialising in outdoor development projects. The first planning meeting has taken place this week and we are all excited about the ideas discussed. Exciting times ahead, watch this space! FANTASTIC! 1.

Once Upon a Time… There are some absolutely fantastic reading areas around school, inspiring children to sit and enjoy reading books. These reading areas allow somewhere for children to inspire their imaginations through reading.
Smart New Books This term has seen the introduction of some brand new look work books. The laminated workbooks have been specially made with the Hollingwood School logo on the front cover. The children were all very eager to use their new books. .
Roald Dahl Day Tuesday 13th September was Roald Dahl day celebrating 100 years since the birth of Roald Dahl. Roald Dahl is a popular author amongst the children at Hollingwood Primary and as part of the global celebration of Roald Dahl birthday children took part in some Roald Dahl themed learning activities. Canberra and Washington Class children have been creating potion recipes inspired by Roald Dahl’s ‘The Witches’. In Tokyo, Delhi and Paris Class the children were looking at the amazing characters found in Roald Dahl stories and created characters of their own.

Hollingwood Parent Group Trust Over the last few years, the main events we have organised are Summer Fairs and Christmas Fairs Events are organised for pupils and their families to enjoy. It also enables the PTA to fund things for the benefit of pupils. We have made donations to the football team, dance troops, the school council and art club. Our latest donation has been to extend the existing stage and purchase lighting. We would love this to continue, and are keen to welcome new members and volunteers If you feel this is something that you would like to get involved with or have new ideas for fundraising activities, please leave a message for the PTA at the school office or join us at our next meeting.
Next Meeting: Tuesday 4th October @ 9.00am THE FUTURE OF THE PTA IS IN YOUR HANDS!!!
