Household Hazardous Waste & Paint Collection For Residents of

Please check with your public works department or local transfer station or the following resources: Batteries: 1-800-8-BATTERY or www call2recycle.org (excluding alkaline and auto batteries). Compact Fluorescent Light (CFL) Bulbs: call 1-800-CLEAN; www earth911 com Paint: www.paintcarc.org and visit the Connecticut portion of the site to find a dropoff location for household paint. Commercial and industrial waste will only be accepted through prior arrangement. Small quantity generators (CESQGs) please contact your town if interested in participating in HHW collection. Connecticut participates in a statewide paint recycling program known as PaintCare. PaintCare provides free recycling of architectural paint by placing a small fee on newly purchased paint. Acceptable paints will be collected at HHW events.

Paint Collection Acceptable Paints: Interior and exterior architectural paints, latex, acrylic, water-based, alkyd, oil-based, enamel, deck coatings, floor paints, primers, sealers, undercoatings, field and lawn paints stains, shellacs, lacquers, varnishes, urethanes (single component), waterproofing sealers (except tar or bitumen based), metal coatings, rust preservatives.
