Praise God that the two-week training time in the village went very well. Both of the current translators, two of the three newly identified translators, and two committee members were present. In addition to learning basic translation principles, the new team was able to check and revise 73 verses from the gospel of John. Unfortunately, none of the other invited language groups were able to come for this training. Please pray with us that in this next year, we will indeed see these language groups coming together for training and Bible translation.
The clutch hydraulics on our van went out, and David arranged for a rescue vehicle to come and get him and our van from the village. They were involved in a collision with another vehicle on the way home, but neither David nor the driver of the rescue vehicle was injured. The passenger side of the rescue vehicle where David was sitting was damaged; the door was smashed in and the window was completely shattered. The other driver had some minor injuries, but nothing serious. We praise God for his protection.
Please pray that we can get the needed parts for our van soon and that it would be repaired quickly. We have plans to travel for the Jesus film dedication the week before Christmas, for a family vacation the week after Christmas, and for some time in the village over the Christmas school break in early January — all for which we will be in need of a vehicle.
