Do you enjoy reading aloud to your child, but sometimes wonder if the book your are choosing is developmentally appropriate? If so, please visit http://www.readingrockets.org/article/how-choose-read-aloud-booksbabies-third-graders and read the article "How to Choose Read Aloud Books: Babies to Third Graders." This article provides a guide of what to look for when choosing read alouds based on the age level of your child. Reading aloud is just as important as having your child read independently or read books to you. Reading aloud to your child provides an opportunity to hear fluent reading, stimulates imagination, and develops language and listening skills.
BOXTOP LABEL UPDATE A big thank you to our student council who organized a 2 week collection drive. We were able to submit 8,311 labels which amounts to $831.10 being sent to our school in April. Way to go Student Council!!! We also want to thank Paula Montgomery and Patricia Tesdal, who along with the council, sorted, counted & bundled labels for mailing. We couldn’t do it without you! Don’t forget that our BOXTOP program goes year-round, so keep saving those labels. Our next submission will not be until the Fall of next school year but you can send them to school at anytime. Please check expiration dates. They will not honor expired ones. Thank you to all who have been collecting for us. Marlene Cutcher, Coordinator
Awesome job to our 5th grade students!
4th Grade students in Ms. Lardinois’ class made “cancer ribbons” to show support for World Cancer Day! Ribbons were posted at the Cambridge Public Safety Building and other Dane County Sherriff's offices. Thank you to Ms. Lardinois and her class!

A Note from the Principal Parent/Teacher conferences were held on Thursday, March 2nd. Parent Teacher conferences are a wonderful opportunity for the school and family to monitor progress and communicate accomplishments made throughout the school year. We appreciate the valuable time spent with you, as well as, the support you give concerning our students! We look forward to working with you the
remainder of the 20162017 School Year! Please know that report cards will be sent home the week of March 13th. On Friday, February 17th Cambridge Elementary School held our Child Development Day and 4K Registration. It was exciting to see all the future Blue Jays here at school. Thank you to all the
families who were able to be a part of this exciting day. If you were not able to attend this event please contact the Cambridge Elementary office for important information. We are excited to work with you! Last but not least, this is a gentle reminder that winter is still upon us and it is important that all students are properly dressed for the weather. If your youngster is in need of any winter cloth-
ing (ex. hat, mittens, coat, boots, snow pants, etc.) please let us know and we will do our best to help out. Our goal is to keep our kids safe, warm and healthy; in efforts for them to be at school as much as possible. I look forward to seeing you at Spring events at CES if not sooner! ~Chris Holt, Cambridge Elementary Principal
