Loose Inserts.
The following applies to all loose inserts: 1. All loose inserts should be at least 15mm smaller than the trim size of the magazine in both A and B. 2. The minimum thickness of a single sheet loose insert should be no less than 130gsm. 3. It is not possible to machine insert a concertina folded insert. 4. All loose inserts of 4 pages or more are fed into the publicaton spine first. 5. The pagination of an individual loose insert should be no more than 32 page (maximum can paper grammage for 32pp is 100gsm, but higher grammages can be used on inserts with proportionately fewer pages). 6. If you insert is not a single leaf the spine (A) will need to be closed. 7. Static nailed inserts to have a maximum of 6pp at typical insert grammage, and to be 20mm smaller on each edge than the trim size. 8. Please allow for 2% overs.

Tip ons Due to the nature of mechanical glued inserts, it is imperative that samples of the insert are sent to the appropriate site at least four weeks prior to binding the enable trials to take place. This is to insure that the spot glued insert can be run efficiently and the client is informed of any additional charges that may be necessary due to slower running of the binding lines. The following data is supplied as a guideline for clients wishing to incorporate spot glued inserts into a publication.
Specifications 1. Tip ons cannot be applied to covers, of perfect bound products. 2. It is not recommended to print exact position require ment on the desired page such as a dotted line etc, due to the across stated tolerance. 3. Please be aware that machine tipons are limited to what page they can be tipped onto depending on section breaks. 4. No concertina folded products can be supplied. 5. 4pp, 6pp and 8pp products can be applied, provided that there is a cloesed/folded edge to feed from. You must however check with us to ascertain if the product can be applied landscape or portrait. l
Specifications Presentation of all tip-on products should be boxed with the product facing in one direction and dividers used when necessary.

Tolerance of Tip-on on page A movement tolerance of 10mm in any direction must be allowed for in the positioning of spot glued inserts in both perfect bound and saddle stitched products.

General. All inserts loose/bound/tipped on, and thier suitability are subject to sight and the production department approval. Please ensure you send us a sample 4 weeks prior to the deadline. We cannot be help responsible for inserts we do not recieve prior to publication. Insert overs will be stored for a maximum of 7 days and no longer.
