MAPifesto Checkpoint #1: Life's Best Journeys Are All 'Off Road'
Walking other people's paths, following other peoples rules, living by other peoples values and judgements is the surest way to go through life feeling like you're not good enough, not coming 'up to scratch', that you're a loser and a failure and... well... all those other nasty and self-damaging things we say to ourselves when we're comparing ourselves to others ideas of what OUR lives should be.

The strangest paradox is that walking other peoples paths is what KEEPS us lost, while allowing ourselves a little 'off-road' living is the surest way there is to truly find ourselves and the happiness we're all entitled to.

It's off-road living that creates the most excitement, adventure, passion, purpose and personal evolution in our lives and that makes life truly worth living and it's off-road living that leads to the best and most accurate MAPS that ensure that we'll never get lost again.

WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN USING MAPS THAT AREN’T YOUR OWN?

(What areas of your life are you experiencing the most struggles and challenges? As you reflect upon these, do you feel that the ‘maps’ you are using to ‘navigate’ your way through them are working for you or, like many people, do you find yourself running into the same struggles over and and over? Where did this maps come from? Who taught you to address these struggles this way? Write it all down… no blaming, just identifying the reality is good enough)
This time last year I was stressed, tired, depressed, heading towards an eating disorder and cried at the most ridiculous things, and despite teaching 30 exercise classes a week and running I still struggled to lose any weight.

With a complete overhaul of not only diet & exercise, but lifestyle too, I'm calmer, dropped from a size 14 to a 10, no longer have backache, raging sugar binges or migraines. The hormonal issues have also gone and I am back to the happy person I used to be.

Training with Jules has been more than just "Stretch and Sweat", she's been more my "Life Coach" this past year. I really look forward to my sessions - time-out from the world to concentrate and focus on "Me".

Her advice and support on diet and lifestyle choices has been excellent. She's also really perceptive when you've had a horrendous week or busy night shift (or just hungover!), and pushes you the right amount.

(How are you benefitting from using other people’s rules and following THEIR maps rather than your own?)
I’ve been coaching for four months now and my-oh-my, the results have blown my mind. It’s taken a lot of hard work (and endless encouragement from my coach), but proud to say I’ve lost over 20 pounds, dropping from a size 10/12 to a slim size 6.

More importantly, I’ve converted pesky fat I was never able to lose into toned muscle which pleases me to no end. I’ve actually enjoyed the journey! never thought I’d be looking forward to exercise! It’s taken a lot of perseverance, but without Julie’s help I’d still be at the local gym endlessly pounding on the cross-trainer and wondering why I wasn’t seeing results.

Only problem now? my clothes don’t fit… A problem I certainly welcome!

So, did you do it?
I mean REALLY do it?
If you did, you probably noticed that your current method for navigating your way through your struggles is, in fact, the very REASON that your struggles exist in the first place.
Congratulations!
Most people never get to that level of realisation and, instead, spend a lot of their life walking in circles, lost, struggling and suffering because they insist on doing things that they never chose for themselves, that they don’t enjoy at all and that, if truth be told, they absolutely DETEST doing.
Remember, you’ll never get the body and the life you love by doing the things you loathe.
