New World View: Hungary During a time in an ever more authoritarian country when democratic institutions such as schools and universities are closing, and press freedom is becoming increasingly less free, Hungarian cinema is taking audiences by storm – and it’s thematically diverse, artistically radical and bursting with international esprit. One of this cinema’s most striking thematic interests is the outsider, characters who are forced to assert themselves in a world where they feel alone. The ZFF offers you the exclusive opportunity to discover the year’s most powerful productions.

ZFF for Kids The nine films for children and families in the ZFF for Kids section catapult young audiences into unfamiliar worlds in which foxes think they’re hens, deep friendships form, day becomes night and dreams come true. This year will once again see two prizes awarded in this section: the Children’s Audience Award and, for the second time, the Children’s Jury Award in collaboration with UNICEF Switzerland. The children rate the films after each screening – the films with the best ratings receive their accolades during the Award Night.
