Melbourne Town Hall Organ Recital Performed by Dr Calvin Bowman
About the Melbourne Town Hall Grand Organ
11 & 12 May 6.30pm
Featuring some 10,000 pipes capable of pumping 90,000 cubic feet of air per minute, the Town Hall’s ornate Grand Organ is something of a huge secret. The largest of its kind in the Southern hemisphere, visitors can literally walk through the instrument on supervised tours. But perhaps the best way to feel its awesome sonic might is via a recital. The City of Melbourne hostedconcerts are typically free or low cost. But perhaps more impressive than the sound produced is the sight of a player in action – it’s the very definition of multi-tasking.
This recital will conclude at approximately 7pm.
