Food Tech The group will be completing the Unit Award: ‘Preparing and Cooking International Dishes’. The group will prepare and cook at least three international dishes, identifying ingredients used and presenting the dishes to a high standard. ICT Pupils will be completing assessment tasks for the Cambridge Nationals. Completing tasks on email and using the internet as well as completing data handling assessment tasks. PE Pupils are currently completing Athletics in PE, spending time working on a variety of sports and skills, There will be a swimming gala this half term as well as some students participating in Wanderers events. Science The students will first be revising key topics towards their exams at the end of May. The students will be devising their own revision targets related to the areas of the curriculum with which they are struggling. The students will be completing mock exam questions in areas that they find difficult and refining how they write answers to questions. In the second part of the term the students will be preparing a series of experiments to display to other students in the school in order to cover the technical parts of the curriculum. DT

The group this term are continuing with their OCR Entry Level Electronics work. They are coming to the end of the practical work and will be building the electronic circuits for their 'Night Light' designs. As they will be using LED's in their circuit, any experience identifying how LED's are used at home would be helpful to them.

Revision work will also be completed during exam periods. Dates of these will be provided in advance. Practical arrangements PE is on a Tuesday afternoon – weather appropriate PE kit and shower kit are needed each week. Swimming will be part of PE this half term and those completing sessions will be informed in a separate letter. Home to school contact and communication Contact can be made through Home School Diaries or we can be contacted through the school phone number or by email which is often the fastest option. Phone calls will not be put through to staff during lesson time but messages will be passed on and we will call you back at the earliest convenience. Emails will be answered within two working days unless it is an emergency and then it will be ASAP. Please email me on [email protected] I will then pass on information to the relevant staff. Maths In Maths we will be working on the use of time, calendars and temperature. We will be completing functional style questions working towards our accreditation at half term Your support with this will be greatly appreciated and students will have the opportunity to attend a homework club once a week to ask questions or to work through any issues that they have with the work. English The group are continuing with our work on the Detective Genre; we will be reading and comparing short stories by Roald Dahl and Arthur Conan Doyle. This will provide a fantastic opportunity for them to further develop our inference and deduction skills and put what we have learned into practice by analysing and designing mysteries. There will be a focus on looking at how authors use characters, clues and deduction to create a compelling detective story, in order for us to create our own. PSD This term we will be completing modules from the COPE units of work at Level 1; students will have the opportunity to design their own challenges based around a topic and will complete portfolio work based on this. Art The group are working on a AQA stand alone unit on 3D art, designing and creating their own Papier Mache animals. History This term the students are preparing themselves for their controlled assessment on how the Anglo-Saxons, Vikings and Normans invaded Britain. They will explore the influence these cultures have had on Britain and how they each changed the social, economic and political structure of the country. The students will develop their source analysis skills and prepare notes to take into their controlled assessment. In the second half of the term the students will be looking at local history. They will develop their knowledge of local historical sites, while also creating a chronology of how events that are important to our past.
