Dear Parents and Carers

Just another day and a half until we reach the end of another busy and exciting school year. Please take a look at the website where we will be uploading a few photos in the next couple of days.

Some Sad Farewells Year 2 Children It is time to say farewell to our Year 2 children and their families as they move on up to Junior School. We would like to wish you all the very best in your new schools and don’t forget to give us a wave as you pass by the Infant School. Mrs King After 17 years we have to say a very sad farewell to Mrs King who is moving onto pastures new. She has been a very inspirational teacher and an amazing Deputy Head Teacher who will be greatly missed by us all so please join me, the staff and Governors in saying a huge thank you and goodbye. Mrs Cutler Mrs Cutler has decided that after 23 years at Poulner Infant School the time has come for her to retire but she will be greatly missed by us all. We wish Mr & Mrs Cutler every happiness as they start another chapter in their lives together. Again a big thank you and goodbye from us all. We are also saying goodbye to Miss Yearworth and Mrs Celecius as they move on but would like to thank them for all their hard work whilst at Poulner Infants.

Dates for diary – Current Foundation and Year 1 Parents Along with this letter you will receive a booklet with all the 2016-17 school dates in. If there are any amendments during the year these will be added to a newsletter. The calendar on our website will also show up to date information.

Thank You to: PISA Once again PISA have had a very successful year with a brilliant team organising all the events over the last academic year. Despite a few short downpours the Summer Fayre was once again a huge success raising approximately £2,463 of which £1.047 was raised by the Silent Auction so a big thank you to all of the PISA team, all the volunteers, everyone who donated items and, of course, everyone who came along to the Fayre. If you would like to be part of the PISA team, please come along to the PISA AGM – this date is to be arranged but we will advise you of this in September. Dad’s Club Again a huge thank you to the dads who form the ‘Dad’s Club’ – they give up their time freely to organise events for the children such as camping on the school field, orienteering at Avon Heath Country Park to name but a few. They also attend the Chrismas Fayre and Summer Fayre running the bar and providing the BBQs so thank you for all your hard work. This merry band of men usually get together over a pint or two to organise these events so if there are any other dads, uncles etc who want to be part of their team, just leave your name and contact details with the School Office who will pass these on to one of the dads. Parent Helpers Thank you to our parent helpers who come in and assist in many ways – your support is much appreciated. We must also thank Sheila Weeks who continues to come into school voluntarily every day to read with your children. The results of these 1:1 sessions show what a difference Sheila makes and we are extremely lucky to have her as part of the ‘Poulner’ Team. Parents Last but not least, we would like to thank you all for working with us to support your children’s learning.

We know that we have not yet started the summer holiday but we just need to remind you that the children return to school on Tuesday 6th September at 8.45. Just for the first morning will you please wait with your children in the playground and the teachers will come out to meet them to go to their new classes.

All that is left for us to say is we hope the sun comes out soon and that you all have a safe and happy summer holiday. With our very best wishes

Mrs J Conner Head Teacher.
