Date:

Overview/Background Information
The City is in the process of updating the signage in the area around the former Morgan School location. As part of the update, staff is requesting the removal of certain parking restrictions that were put in place related to the activities of the school in that location. The proposed ordinance removes the No Parking designations along Lee Lane and Blarney Stone Drive as those designations are not needed while the use of the property is not actively being used as a school. School speed limit signs and crossing signage related to Morgan School are also scheduled to be removed since the use is no longer a schoolhouse. Key Issues
1. The proposed ordinance will remove the No Parking regulations on Lee Lane and Blarney Stone Drive now that the former Morgan School is not being used as a schoolhouse. 2. Other signage in the area is being removed due to the property no longer being used as a schoolhouse. 3. Traffic Review Committee recommended approval 5-0. Conformance with Strategic Plan
Approval of this agreement would conform with the stated purpose of the following strategic goal: Goal #1 – Create and Sustain Safe and Healthy Neighborhoods Goal #2 – Create and Sustain a High Performing Organization Goal #3 – Create and Sustain Economic and Residential Growth Goal #4 – Create and Sustain a High Quality of Life Goal #5 – Create and Sustain High Quality Infrastructure and Connectivity Goal #6 – Create and Sustain a Positive Image, Enhance Communications and Engage the Community Sustainability (If applicable, briefly comment on the sustainable long term impact of this policy or program related to how it will impact both the built and natural environment. Consider whether the policy of program will reduce dependence upon fossil fuels, reduce dependence on chemicals and other manufacturing substances that accumulate in nature, reduce dependence on activities that harm life sustaining eco-systems, and/or meet the hierarchy of present and future human needs fairly and efficiently.
