Punchdown Tool PDT110 with Cross Connect Blade 10665000 (not supplied by Panduit)

Cross Connect Layouts Draw Position Lines on Wall or Mounting Surface Draw lines as shown in Fig. 1 to guide placement of the first base. Use a level and measure the shown distances.

Mounting the First Base Align the base with the position lines and fasten the base to the wall using #8-3/4" wood screws.

Attachment of Addition Bases

Base 1

Engage the second base into the first base using two rings. Secure the second base using #8-32" wood screws. Horizontal and vertical rings should be used to position additional bases. Additional bases and rings should be installed as needed per typical industry practices.

Routing the Cables Start by routing the cable bundle for the lower base. Attach the bundle to the center cable mount on the right side of the upper base using a Tak-Ty Hook & Loop Cable Tie. Tak-Ty Hook & Loop Cable Tie

Tak-Ty Hook & Loop Cable Tie

Route the upper base cable bundle next. Using a Tak-Ty Hook & Loop Cable Tie, secure both upper and lower cable bundles at the top cable mount location as shown.

Spread out each cable to the correct connector location. While keeping the cable tight to the connector locations, mark each cable. This will be the mark to strip the cable jacket to in the next step.

Using the CJAST tool, strip each cable to the marks you made in the previous step. Using the CWST tool, trim off the excess strength member and rip cord.

Position conductors over the pair splitter into the connector slots with matching color code. Color code

Punchdown each conductor using punchdown tool. Properly orient the tool blade so the cutting edge is on the bottom as shown.

Remove connector block, rotate, and place into the top position of the base.

Place the next connector block into the third position down from the top and terminate as previously described. After terminated, rotate the connector block up into the second position from the top. Repeat this process for remaining connector blocks and cables.

Labeling and Cross Connect Wiring Mark identification labels. Apply label to the front face of the label holder. Install label holders onto the base. Label holders snap into position between upper and lower connector blocks as shown.

Install cross connect wires according to the engineering work plan. Route wires through the horizontal rings to the second location leaving 3" of slack. Wire ends should always face towards the label. Fig. 14

25-Pair Cable Installation (See page 2 for 4-Pair Cable Installation) NOTE: The following procedure is a quick and simple method for installing high performance data cable. Traditional installation methods are also acceptable; however, the following steps must be utilized.

Slack

1. Place a cable tie through the slot on the connector block. 2. Leave approx 7" of wire slack from the end of the cable sheath to the cable tie. 3. Lay the bundle along the top of the connector block as shown and lightly fasten the cable tie. Leave approx 50% space.

4. After termination, dress the wire bundle in the space between the connectors and into the back of the base as needed.

Routing the Cables Start by routing the cable bundle for the lower base.

Tak-Ty Hook & Loop Cable Tie

Attach the bundle to the center cable mount on the right side of the upper base using a Tak-Ty Hook & Loop Cable Tie.

Using a Tak-Ty Hook & Loop Cable Tie, secure both upper and lower cable bundles at the top cable mount location as shown.

Locate the appropriate cable from the center of the base. Trim off a small portion of the jacket to expose the rip cord. Pull the rip cord until the slit is level with the first position of the upper base as shown. Remove excess jacket and rip cord.

Insert wires per engineering work plan. Punchdown each conductor using punchdown tool. Properly orient the tool blade so the cutting edge is on the bottom as shown.

Lower the trim line to the second position from the top of the base and strip the cable.

Place next connector block in the third position down from the top of the base and terminate as previously described. After terminated, rotate the connector block up into the second position. Repeat steps for remaining connectors and cables.
