STEWARDSHIP August 6 - Proper 13 Matthew 14:17-18 They said to Him, “we only have five loaves here and two fish.” And He said, “Bring them here to me.“ When the disciples held on to the five loaves and two fish – that’s exactly what they had. But when they handed them over to the Lord, the multitudes are fed. Apart from Jesus all we do and all we have is nothing – but in Jesus all we do and have is blessed to be used by the Lord for His gracious work. Witness: “Everything is possible for him who believes.” Mark 9:23

Please join us today, Aug. 6 at 1:00 pm in the Fellowship Hall for Cindy Wrucke's presentation on her upcoming mission work in Eurasia. Invite your family and friends to learn more about what God is doing in the Czech Republic, Germany, Mongolia and former communist countries to reach people with the Gospel message for the first time. Cindy will share the enormous needs of this region, what she will be doing to help share the light of Christ in areas where atheists and Muslims outnumber Christians, and how you can partner with her on this journey. All are welcome!

As of July 30th, we have walked 218.85 miles. FANTASY FOOTBALL Yes! To answer the most common question about the Peace Fantasy Football draft, Yes, there will be snacks! Can't attend the Live Draft? MESSAGE FROM PASTOR WENZEL Vacation Bible School 2017 is in the books! It was another wonderful opportunity to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with children this whole week. The tentative dates for Vacation Bible School next year is July 29-August 2, 2018. Worship services in our sister congregations: I would like to encourage you that if for some reason you are unable to attend a Thursday night or Sunday morning worship service here at Peace on a particular week, area LCMS churches have services on days besides Sunday where you can receive God’s gifts. Here is a list of those churches with the time and day of service: -Good Shepherd, Watertown (6:00 p.m. Saturday) -St. Stephen, Horicon (5:30 p.m. Saturday) -St. John’s, Mayville (5:30 p.m. Saturday) -Zion, Clyman (7:00 p.m. Monday) Susan’s on vacation: Our office administrator, Susan Janssen, will be on a well-deserved vacation this week (August 7-11). Lois Stanton and Vickie Ludtke will be in the office to answer the phone and take messages. Thank you, Lois and Vickie. QUOTE FROM LUTHER NINTH SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST Matt. 14:13–21 (Aug. 6) “Our sows (i.e. false Christians) ... have this precious bread (i.e. God’s Word) in abundance and many basketfuls of fragments (Matt. 14:20), are sated with it and do not even care to smell it. Indeed, they thrust it about with their snouts, root around in it, trample it with their feet, and run over it. Thus the saying is true: When something is in common use, it is not appreciated, but is despised, however precious it may really be. Unfortunately such a saying is proved especially true in the case of our dear Word.” LW 12:151 American Edition (56 vols.; St. Louis: Concordia Publishing House and Philadelphia: Fortress Press, 1955–1986).
