125 At 125, sophomore Anthony Zanetta will look to continue his success from last year at the position. Zanetta finished the 2009-10 season with a 34-10 record and an EWL Championship. 133 Freshman Shelton Mack has emerged as the leading candidate for the Panthers at 133, winning both matches at the Blue vs. Gold wrestle-offs, deafeating Erik Galloway and Zach Grove. Galloway and Grove will both add depth. 141 Nauman, a returning All-American, leads the pack at 141. The redshirt junior placed fifth at the NCAA’s as well as claiming his second straight EWL title. Nauman enters the season garnering numerous pre-season rankings, including a No. 3 ranking by InterMat. Freshman Mike Tully has been impressive in the preseason and will serve as the top candidate to back up Nauman. 149 Sophomore Dane Johnson looks to have a break out season at 149, after recording an 8-1 record in 2009-10. 157 In the 157 weight class, Donnie Tasser will look to be the top contender, with freshman Tyler Wilps as a second option. 165 Senior Adam Counterman leads at 165 after serving as a strong backup in previous years. Counterman will look to have a break out season in his final year of eligibility. Redshirt freshman P.J. Tasser could see time at 165 as well. 174 Headlee, one of Pitt’s returning NCAA qualifiers, returns from a redshirt season and will look to be a three-time NCAA qualifier. Headlee moves up to 174 after competing at 165 in his previous two dual seasons. 184 Freshman Max Thomusseit will take over the 184 position after his older brother, Zac, moved up to the 197 position. Thomusseit was a decorated high school wrestler that will look to continue his success at the collegiate level. Senior Andy Vaughan will add solid depth at 184. 197 With NCAA qualifier Matt Wilps likely to redshirt this season, Zac Thomusseit moves up from 184 to lead the Panthers at 197. Thomusseit was also an NCAA qualifier last season, and will look to win the EWL Championship this season. HWT One of the strongest competitors in the country, redshirt senior Ryan Tomei will look to continue off a remarkable 2009-10 season in which he won 33 matches while losing only 7. Tomei captured two titles last year including the EWL Championships. An automatic qualifier, Tomei was seeded in the heavyweight bracket. He enters the season ranked No. 11 by InterMat.
