THE VINE I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who abide in me and I in them bear much fruits, because apart from me you can do nothing. -John 15:5

Haiti Mission 2013 Dear New Hope Church Family, In this coming new year I will be about 1756 miles away from here…in Port-au-Prince Haiti. For six months, I will be working with the missionary organization M.O.M. (Messengers of Mercy) to help Haitian communities pick themselves up and get on their feet—with the help of God of course! M.O.M. is a Chicago-based, non-denomination, equipping missionary organization, meaning that rather than just sending aid, the objective is to help people utilize their God-given skills and talents to serve alongside their church. Its history goes back to the year 1996, in the home of my aunt, Dr. Soon Ja Choi. Today M.O.M. extends its missionary branches all over our nation and our world. It was through M.O.M. that my heart first ached for Haiti. Two years ago in the summer of 2010, I flew to Port-au-Prince for a ten-day mission trip. Although I could not call myself a Christian at the time, God broke my heart with the chaos in the streets, the city of shambles, the countless orphanages—with so many experiences. Ever since then I cannot deny that I have a special place in my heart for Haiti. With graduation coming in a few short months (as I will be graduating in December), the time seems right to return to Haiti to spread God’s love. At this point in my life, I have never felt stronger in my identity in God and I hope to give Haiti, and of course continue to grow in God.
carry on in times of weakness—we need to be in sync with the Holy Spirit. Your prayers are so crucial to our work and I hope that you will all support our time in Haiti! Please also pray for the hearts of the Haitians that we meet, that they may receive the Holy Spirit and have open hearts. I am also asking our congregation for financial support. Any contribution will be greatly appreciated, as it will go to traveling, boarding, and supply fees! January is inching closer and closer, which means the time to depart for Haiti is coming closer and closer each day. Please help us, New Hope Church!
1 Chronicles 28:20 David also said to Solomon his son, "Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you until all the work for the service of the temple of the LORD is finished.
Love, Priscilla Yang
We will be working mainly in Port-au-Prince in many fields of ministry including: preschool teaching, English school, computer school, orphanage work, perhaps a newly developed art ministry, micro-finance and micro-enterprise ministries, water filtering, solar lanterns, solar cookers, and networking and computing services. Although we have a lot on our plate, we are praying to be diligent instruments of God so that we may start off missions in Haiti with great success. Especially because this mission in Haiti is a relatively new branch of the M.O.M. organization, I am asking all of you for your support! We need the wisdom of God, we need the eyes of faith, we need the passion to serve, we need God’s true love so that we may not judge others, we need the endurance and strength to
