Progress made on abandoned properties abandoned properties in Brandermill and it fell in the right direction. The property on Winterberry Terrace sold at auction on the courthouse steps on July 8. The purchaser was the bank and they didn’t waste any time. On Wednesday of this week, July 15, crews started arriving to work on the yard and clean out the house. In the meantime, BCA President Charlie Davis, Community Manager Bailey, and Director of Property Management Al Raimo met with a reporter from the Richmond Times Dispatch on Tuesday morning, July 14 and an article appeared in Wednesday’s paper. Channel 6 came out on Wednesday and interviewed residents of the Winterberry neighborhood as well as CM Bailey. An abandoned property in Fortune’s County is now pursuing foreclosure on that property. The BCA was recently served with court papers, through our registered agent, requesting the Court to allow the Treasurer’s

pay taxes. While there is no timetable yet outlined for the sale to happen, this is clearly good news and a very big step in the process. A third abandoned property, in Harbour Ridge, is quite literally currently being sold by on-line auction. Furthermore, as a result of recent actions and the coverage given by the press, your association has received a number of inquiries from entities that specialize in revitalizing residential properties. They are clamoring to be a part of the effort to improve Brandermill, as success breeds success. The falling of these dominos got their genesis as a direct result of the association’s aggressive approach to pursue derelict County’s commitment to address them. Of Brandermill’s 3,773 homes, only 8 are truly abandoned - well, make that 7 now and 6 by next week. That puts the number of abandoned properties at much less than half of 1% of the total of all the houses in our community.

2016 Budget Development underway Community Manager Bailey is in the process of developing the draft operational and capital budgets for 2016. If there are operating budget issues you want to see addressed or if there are any new or replacement capital items you wish to see pursued please email JB at [email protected].

residents of a few things. Please do not put out your brush more than two weeks before your zone pickup. This provides everyone the opportunity to participate and yet prevents the neighborhood from having to look at piles of brush for an entire month. Brush should be out no later than 7 a.m. the Monday of your zone’s pickup week. Crews may pass by large piles and return later during the week with a tractor. They didn’t forget you.
