QUARTERLY REPORT JUN – SEP 2018 POORNA VIDHYA PROJECT Steward: Kasturi Eswaran
CHENNAI HIGH SCHOOL, CANAL BANK ROAD, R.A PURAM CHENNAI – 28 CH School currently has 105 students. During this quarter, the school conducted a parents-teacher meeting to discuss student’s performance and behavior. Children created science and maths projects. Independence Day was celebrated with flag hoisting by HM, dance by students and distribution of notebooks by Asha. Asha Chennai also provided laptops to the school. Asha teacher Mrs. Jayalakshmi teaches computers to primary and middle school students.
CHENNAI PRIMARY SCHOOL, SHASHTRINAGAR, ADYAR, CHENNAI - 20 Chennai Primary School currently has 113 students. During this quarter, the school celebrated World Environment day on June 5 with students making a model showing the conservation of forests. Children enacted a drama on Chera, Chola, Pandiya during the parent-teacher meeting. Students celebrated Kamarajar’s birthday with speeches, and Independence Day with songs and dance. Asha Chennai distributed dictionaries and stationeries to children, and four laptops to the school donated by Inner Wheel Club of Madras. Asha Chennai also gifted a 3-D model of a human body to the school.
CHENNAI MIDDLE SCHOOL, THIRUVALLURPET, CHENNAI – 18 CM School currently has 110 students. During this quarter, the school celebrated World Environment Day by having the students bring and plant saplings in the campus. Children created science and maths projects, and were encouraged to improve their handwriting. Independence Day was celebrated with cultural programs, and students made speeches on Teachers Day.
CPS ODAIKUPPAM CPS Odaikuppam celebrated Kamarajar’s birthday with speaking and drawing competitions, and Independence Day with various programs for students. On World Environment day, the students were taught the importance of plants and trees, and cleanliness of the surroundings and oneself including washing of hands and feet.
ADI DRAVIDAR WELFARE MIDDLE SCHOOL, NANTHIVARAM, GUDUVANCHERI Adi Dravidar school welcomed fifteen new students this school year. During this quarter, the school marked various key days such as World Day Against Child Labour, World Blood Donor Day and World Population Day by informing children of the importance of such issues. Kamarajar’s birthday was celebrated with speeches, dances, songs and dramas, and Independence Day celebrations included parents and public as well. The school emphasized the importance of education during World Literacy Day. Students practiced yoga and meditation during World Yoga Day, and cleaned the school campus and watered plants during the two weeks of Clean India Project. Through Asha Chennai, Inner Wheel Club of Madras donated four laptops to the school.
