Welcome to Race 2 of the 2014-15 TeamUp ActiveTRI Kids Series. Please take the time to read the following participant information to ensure you have the best possible event experience.

TRAINING CLINIC When: Saturday, 6 December, 2014

Check in from 2:45pm. Session starts at 3:00pm

The clinic focus will be on an introduction to triathlon, including transition setup, increasing your speed in transition and equipment needed. The clinic will show you how to setup your transition area and teach you techniques involved in mounting and dismounting your bike and how to speed up your 1st and 2nd transitions. Please bring necessary equipment, including: your bike, helment and shoes. The session will be taken by TRG Triathlon and Multisport. All levels of experience are welcome.

PARTICIPANT INSTRUCTIONS

REGISTRATION & RACE KIT COLLECTION

Participants can pick up their race kits and/or register as a late entrant at the event site on Saturday from 2:00pm4:00pm. This is also a great opportunity to have a look at the course and layout of the transition area, to view where your bike will be placed on race day and see our event partners.

7. We have full road closures, however please be aware that local resident vehicles will use the designated slip lane on course. Always be aware of other cyclists on the road and keep left.

On race morning, registration will be open from 5:45am.

8. Marshals will be in transition to assist any participants who may need help. No parents are to be in transition after 9:00am.

ON- DAY INFORMATION

SERIES PACK COLLECTION

REGISTRATION PROCEDURE

Collect your pre-packed race envelope containing: coloured security band, bike and helmet security sticker and swim cap. Please check your details printed on the sticker on the outside of your race kit. If incorrect in any way, you MUST return to the Registration marquee to amend details, otherwise this will affect the accuracy of your results. Once you have your pack: 1. Attach your security band on your wrist. This will allow you access into the transition area. The second security band is for a family member/friend to access transition ONLY before and after the event, not during the event. 2. Place your bike sticker on the centre of your handle bars/head stem and your helmet sticker on the right hand side of your helmet. 3. Proceed to the arm numbering area where you will have your race number written on your RIGHT ARM and your RIGHT THIGH, and race category letter written on the back of your RIGHT CALF.

All kids that registered for the Series will recieve a FREE Gromet Sports Gear Pack. Please go to the entries marquee on the day to pick these up.

WAVE STARTS

Participants will be segregated by age and gender on the beach. Age groups completing the 100m swim will be sent off in the following order: Male 7 years, Female 7 years, Male 8 years, Female 8 years, Male 9 years, and Female 9 years. Age groups completing the 200m swim will then be sent off in the following order: Male 10 years, Female 10 years, Male 11 years, Female 11 years etc. Wave size is guaranteed to be kept under 20 participants. Water depth MAY BE over the head of any participant, and therefore all children are expected to be able to swim this distance. Water safety will be supervising participants if they require assistance during the swim leg. All kids must wear the supplied swim cap, contained in the race kit.

4. Proceed to the bike compound and place your bike on the rack where your race number is, or as directed by the marshals. Please ensure that your helmet is securely fastened and your security band is on in preparation for your security check as you enter the transition area to reduce congestion.

MULTI CLASS EVENT-WAVES

SAVE TIME! Pre-number yourself before arriving at the event site! All you need is a black marker. Refer to the website www. starttofinish.com.au for a diagram on arm numbering and race category letters.

5. You cannot leave bags in the transition area. Please drop in the clothing bag drop area prior to leaving the transition area.

Beach Road will be closed to all traffic (vehicles and cyclists) between the following times: Charman Road, Beaumaris to Nepean Highway, Mordialloc from 6:00am – 11:00am. Parking will be available at the Mordialloc Town Centre and on side streets. Please visit the website for full parking plan.

6. Attend race briefing on the beach.

Briefing will be held on the beach at 9.40am for all kids taking part in the Multi Class Event. Wave 1 will be held for the Boys and Girls championships, Wave 2 will be for ages 10-12, Wave 3 will be kids aged 12-14 and Wave 4 will be for kids 15+ Toilets are available at the end of the car park at Peter Scullin Reserve, on Pier Rd and on the event site near the Registration marquees.

COURSE DETAILS KIDS 7-9 YEARS OLD Swim: 100m clockwise swim off Mordialloc beach. Bike: 1 x 3km loop heading north along Beach Road turning at Surf Street and heading south turning at Pier Road then back to transition. Run: 500m run out and back run towards the beach heading north on the beach path to the 7-9 year old turn point. KIDS 10-14 YEARS OLD Swim: 200m clockwise swim off Mordialloc beach. Bike: 2 x 3km loop heading north along Beach Road turning at Surf Street and heading south turning at Pier Road then back to transition. Run: 1km run out and back run towards the beach heading north on the beach path to the 10-14 year old turn point.
