The Saints come into this weekend’s home-and-home with Clarkson after suffering their first shut out of the season at the hands of another nationally-ranked opponent in No. 10 Robert Morris. Taking on its familiar Route 11 rival, the Saints are looking for their first win against a ranked team in 2013-14.

Third Times a Charm...

Friday’s contest will be the third meeting between the teams this season. The previous meetings were played as part of the teams’ non-conference schedules, while this set will count towards ECAC Hockey standings. Then No. 3 Clarkson swept the Saints in October, but the Scarlet and Brown will look to continue its stellar play against league opponents (currently 5-2-1).

The Series with the Golden Knights...

Clarkson has gotten the better of the Saints in recent years, taking five of the last six contests, but the Saints still hold the overall series lead at 16-12-4. Thirteen of the 32 games played in the history of this women’s rivalry have been decided by just one goal.

Appleton Advantage...

Since the North Country rivalry spread to women’s hockey in 2004, St. Lawrence has put its home ice advantage to good use against Clarkson. The Saints are 133-1 within the friendly confines of Appleton Arena when hosting the Knights. The last win came in the form of a 3-2 come-from-behind thriller last season on “Saints Go Social.”

Against ECAC Hockey Opponents...

Clarkson and St. Lawrence are currently tied for fifth in the ECAC Hockey standings with 11 points. Both have dropped games to Cornell and Harvard - a pair of nationally-ranked teams who have been atop the standings all season long.

The 100-point Club...

A total of 20 players have reached the 100-point mark during their tenure at St. Lawrence, including Clarkson co-head coach Shannon (Smith) Desroiser. Rylee Smith is the only current Saint player with 100+ points, ranking 15th all-time

The Newcomers...

Coach Wells and his staff added three rookies to the roster this season, including forwards Brooke Webster and Alex Moore and defenseman Kirsten Padalis. Webster (6-7-13) and Moore (6-6-12) are third and fourth on the team in scoring, respectively. Padalis (4-2-6) is third among the Saints’ defensemen behind senior co-captains Mel Desrochers and Dayle Wilkinson. Webster notched her first collegiate goal against Clarkson at Cheel Arena on Oct. 4.

The Breakdown...

The St. Lawrence roster is made up of four seniors, seven juniors, eight sophomores and three first-year students. Eleven of the 22 active players are Canadian and represent three provinces: Nova Scotia, Ontario and Saskatchewan. The ten Americans come from eight states: California, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma and Wisconsin. Giulia Mazzocchi is the only European on the roster, hailing from Italy.
