Self-drive Sept 26 (Wednesday): Thibodeaux Day Trip ▪ We’ll visit the ED White Historic Site along Bayou Lafourche for a guided tour and a cooking demonstration ▪ next will be lunch on our own at Politz’s Restaurant, a locally owned neighborhood style restaurant serving plate lunches featuring familiar Cajun and south Louisiana dishes as well as Seafood, Italian, and American cuisine ▪ Next stop is St Joseph CoCathedral, a Catholic cathedral that began in 1819 as a small wooden church ▪ The present church was begun in 1923 and completed in 1925 ▪ Along with the Cathedral of St. Francis de Sales in Houma, it is the seat of the Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux and is the oldest parish in the diocese ▪ Donner Peltier Distillery is our next stop, where we can sample the gin, vodka, whiskey and varieties of rum produced with locally grown ingredients ▪ Finally we visit Laurel Valley Village, a site containing the remains of a large sugar plantation which operated from 1832 until well into the 20th century ▪ Drive by buildings the remaining vacant buildings, stop in at the General Store, and then walk around back to see old farm implements.

December 2 (Sunday): Santaland Diaries - Teatro Wego ▪ When a down-on-his luck wannabe actor arrives in New York City at the end of the year, the only employment he can find is at Macy’s department store - working in Santaland for the holiday season, as a reluctant, but relentlessly cheerful elf. Newly christened “Crumpet”, our clever anti-hero shares his observations of the mayhem in front of and behind the scenes during one chaotic December, from aggressive parents and drunken Santas, to flirtatious actors, poor hygiene, and the racially charged hazards of being a “Pointer Elf”.
