If changes are necessary for larger sizes the instructions will be written thus ( ). Note: Poncho is worked sideways. Cast on 46 (49-53) sts loosely (center back). Work in garter st (knit every row) for 2 rows, noting first row is RS. 1st row: (RS). Knit to last 4 (5-5) sts. Turn. Leave rem sts unworked. 2nd row: Knit. Rep last 2 rows twice more. 34 (34-38) sts. 7th to 10th rows: Knit across all 46 (49-53) sts. Rep last 10 rows 16 (17-19) times more.

Make fringe: Next row: (RS). K4. Cast off rem 42 (45-49) sts. Slip first 4 sts off left hand needle and unravel them across lower edge of Poncho. Sew center back seam. Shorten length of first fringe (cast on edge) to match length of rem fringe.
