Catholic Social Teaching Focus: Call to Family, Community and Participation By nature, humans are social creatures. We need each other. Like the early disciples, Jesus calls us to come together and support one another so we may grow as a people of God, whether in our churches, workplaces or homes—or even across the globe. This week at crsricebowl.org ENCOUNTER Christyan, a Sri Lankan refugee returning home after years of forced exile to reclaim his family's home and provide for his wife and child.
ADORATION SCHEDULE Monday—Friday 8am to 10 PM (Please note: new hours)
MARCH 24, 2019
From the desk of the Administrator This coming week, my series on the Triduum begins. Understanding the Evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper will be held on Monday, 25 March, from 7-9 PM at ASP in the Activities Building. A handicapped entrance can be found on the Wilson Street side of the building. The same session will be held again on Tuesday, 26 March, from 1-3 PM at HSP in the cafeteria in the school building. You are welcome to come either in the afternoons or evenings, or if you’re really crazy, BOTH! All you need to bring is yourself and perhaps some paper if you want to take some notes to remember it all. There is no pre-registration. Come and learn something about these important days in our Catholic lives. Tomorrow, March 25th , brings a momentous moment for our parish grouping, a new website is going live! You can find it at www.EGMCatholic.org. Of course, that’s short for Etna, Glenshaw, and Millvale Catholic. A small bit of history is necessary. The concept started in Millvale with their web domain contact expiring a few months back. SBP’s web contract is coming due in a few months. Through the Diocesan Communication office, we were able to establish this new site with E-Catholic. I am most grateful to Brian Spoales from Millvale who did the work. (Thanks Brian!) The site will serve us well for many years to come. Go and visit it! The other Friday I received the four On Mission for the Church Alive! © capital campaign statements. I STILL need to learn more about what were in the original case statements and where we are with the completion of said projects. Anyway, as of 30 November 2018, the following funds/ proceeds were deposited in each account: ASP $5,716.54; SBP $5,181.91; HSP $1,620.06 and SNP $438.00. If you are having trouble making your pledge payment, please let me know. None of these funds can be used for the compensation fund that will aid those who were abused by members of our diocesan clergy or for related legal expenses. Thanks to all for your continued generosity to the campaign. Last Monday the Clergy Team had a meeting with our three Police Chiefs. It was a good starting point to improving the security of our buildings and the safety of our communities when we gather. The biggest take away was the use of 911. They all agreed that when ANYTHING suspicious is going on, do not hesitate to call 911. More to come.
See you in Church! Fr. Jim Gretz

THIRD SUNDAY OF LENT I MUST GO OVER TO LOOK AT THIS REMARKABLE SIGHT– In today’s first reading, Moses, while tending the flocks of his father-in-law, happens upon a bush which is burning, but which is not consumed. Moses’ reaction is to “go over to look at this remarkable sight, which he does. However, the Lord, in speaking from the burning bush, wants him to do more than look. Instead, God reveals himself to Moses and calls Moses to lead His people out of slavery in Egypt. While Moses has some reservations, he says yes to God and works to lead his people to freedom. Like Moses, the Lord wants us to do more than look at Him or at His Church. The Lord wants us to be engaged with Him. Faith is not a passive endeavor. Faith is an active engagement with God in the community of the Church. It is easy to look at the Church and say, “I like this” or, “I do not like that” and then do nothing about it. It takes effort to get involved to be an instrument of Jesus’ life in the Church. As we continue our Lenten journey may we be renewed not only to see God better, but to embrace most fully his will. Visit onmissionchurchalive.org to learn more and to stay informed.
