Recent Results

Katie Taylor, So., UNI (Muskego, Wis.)

At the Kansas Classic this weekend, Katie Taylor dominated the pool, earning three first-place finishes and a second place finish individually. Taylor swam a 2:01.33 in the 200 IM, a 4:17.72 in the 400 IM and tied her record in the 200 backstroke at 1:57.20. Taylor was just shy of first-place in the 100 backstroke, swimming a 54.73. Taylor was also named the Kansas Classic Most Valuable Swimmer and to the All-Invite Team. Taylor was a member of all relay teams, earning Top-3 finishes in each and a first-place finish in the 400 freestyle relay, swimming with Crystal Florman, Abby Meyer, and Molly Lembezeder. The Panthers swam a 3:24.25.

MVC Diver of the Week Beibei Ji, So., Southern Illinois (Taiyuan, China)

Sophomore Beibei Ji led SIU’s diving efforts at the Purdue Invite on Nov. 16-18. In the three-meter dive, Ji finished seventh with a score of 277.35 out-diving athletes from North Carolina, Virginia Tech and Florida International. In the women’s one-meter dive, she was ninth with a score of 250.05 and finished in front of two divers from North Carolina.

Swimmer:

Danielle Freeman, Sr., Evansville -- Freeman took the top spot in the 50 freestyle with a 22.98, two-tenths of a second faster than the 2nd place finisher. Additionally, she swam in the 200 freestyle A-Final, taking 4th place with a 1:51.43. However, the highlight of her weekend came with her victory in the 100 freestyle. Her time of 50.17 broke the meet record of 50.94, set by Freeman herself in 2016. Jensen Keck, So., Illinois State -- Keck won two individual events and three broke school records at the Bearcat Midseason Invitational, where Illinois State earned a third place finish. Keck took first in the 100- (1:02.40) and 200-yard (2:16.51) breaststrokes, while setting a record in the 50-, 100- and 200-yard breaststrokes. Keck’s 100-yard breaststroke set a pool record and qualified for NCAA B cut. Kendall Hansen, So., Back, Indiana State -- Hansen has won the 100 and 200 back in nearly every meet and has improved her times each week in these events. During Indiana State’s mid-season meet, the Bearcat Invite, Hansen was once again a standout. She shattered three team records as she broke the 200 back with a time of 2:03.26, the 400 free relay with a 3:33.60, and the 100 back with a 57.30. Emma Wall, Sr., Butterfly, Missouri State -- Going up against No. 9 Indiana, No. 14 Florida, No. 20 Purdue and Virginia Tech – who received 15 votes in the CSCAA Coaches Poll – Emma produced a pair of big swims for the Bears. Beginning in the 100 fly prelims, she cracked the school record with a 54.13 swim in the event. She went on later that evening to finish 12th overall in the event. The next day, she broke her personal record in the 200 fly where she sits second all-time in the MSU record books. Her B-standard time of 1:58.37 in the 200 fly earned her a huge, fourth-place finish at the invitational and currently ranks 28th in the country. After the weekend, she leads the MVC in both the 100 and 200 fly. Bryn Handley, Sr., Southern Illinois -- Handley led the Salukis by recording the best overall finish in an event of any Saluki while setting team and conference-best times. In the 1,650-yard freestyle, Handley swam the race in a time of 16:34.46 for a sixth-place finish. Her time is the currently the best in the Missouri Valley Conference, 36th in the NCAA and in the top-10 in program history at SIU. She narrowly missed an NCAA B Cut time in the race, this year’s standard is 16:30.59. In the 500-yard freestyle, Handley was 13th with a time of 4:48.53 to improve upon her own Conferencebest time. She is currently 81st in the nation in the event. She was 20th in the women’s 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:49.99, the second-fastest time in the Valley this season. She also placed 28th in the 100-yard freestyle.

Diver:

Courtney Coverdale, Sr., Evansville -- At House of Champions this weekend at IUPUI, senior Courtney Coverdale scored 244.30 on 3-Meter, landing her in 4th place. She then took 3rd place on 1-meter with a final score of 270.20. Emily Aument, Fr., Illinois State -- Aument led the Redbird divers in the 1-meter dive and 3-meter dive, in their ninthplace finish at the TYR Invitational over the weekend. Aument earned a score of a score of 203.70, and placed 14th in the 3-meter dive with a score of 204.75 Alyssa Deuso, Jr., UNI -- In the diving well, the Panthers were led by Alyssa Deuso diving a 222.45 in the 3-meter boards. Deuso led the Panthers on 1-meter board, scoring a 223.55 for fourth-place honors.
