Recent Results
Bryn Handley, Sr., Southern Illinois (Louisville, Ky)
Senior Bryn Handley led the Salukis in their home meet against nationally-ranked Kentucky and Missouri on Friday and Saturday. She recorded top-three finishes in all of her individual events. Her best race was in the 1,000-yard freestyle in which she took first with a time of 10:01.77 to improve upon her best time in the Missouri Valley Conference. It is the 42nd-best time in the NCAA this season. Handley defeated Kentucky’s Geena Freriks and Kathryn Painter, both are two-time NCAA qualifiers, in the event. Handley took third in the 200 and 500-yard freestyle races. Handley’s time of 4:52.72 in the 500-yard freestyle is currently the best in the MVC and 53rd best in the NCAA. In both the 200 and 500-yard freestyle, Handley outperformed Missouri’s Kira Zubar and Courtney Evensen, two swimmers that have earned Honorable-Mention NCAA All-American honors in their career. Handley also helped her 400-yard freestyle relay team to a fifth place result.
MVC Diver of the Week Courtney Coverdale, Sr., Evansville (Plainfield, IN)
Senior Courtney Coverdale grabbed wins in both diving events this weekend at the Evansville Women’s Quad. Her score of 250.35 in the 1-meter saw her edge teammate Natalie Gerard. In the 3-meter event, Coverdale scored a 239.00.

Danielle Freeman, Sr., Evansville (Grand Rapids, MI) Danielle Freeman was the winner in the 100 free this weekend at the Evansville Women’s Quad. She posted a time of 52.38, 1.49 seconds ahead of second place. Freeman also led the way with a strong performance in the 50 free. Her 24.08 was 0.58 in front of the pack. Martina Marks, Jr., Indiana State (Yehud-Monoson, Israel) Martina Marks finished first in both the 200 and 500 freestyle in the Sycamores wins over conference opponents Evansville and Little Rock on Nov. 4. Marks swam a 1:54.74 in the 200 and added a time of 5:06.99 in the 500 freestyle. Marks was also a member of 400 freestyle relay team which set a new school record with a 3:35.02.

Claire Bristow, Little Rock (Little Rock, Ark.) Bristow is coming off a weekend where she finished top-three in all of her individual events she competed in and beat her personal bests in two events. On Friday, she competed in the St. Louis Double Dual and competed in, the 200-yard freestyle, 500-yard freestyle, and 200-yard freestyle relay. In the 200-yard freestyle she took second place out of 15 swimmers with a time of 1:56.75, beating her personal best time in the event. In the 500-yard freestyle she took third out of 11 swimmers with a time of 5:13.03 and in the 400-yard freestyle relay her team took 4th out of 6. Saturday she competed in the Evansville Triple Dual where she took a first place finish in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:43.61, her best of her career. She also competed in the 500-yard freestyle where she took third out of 11 swimmers with a time of 5:16.78. Her relay team took fourth out of 12 teams in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:44.38. Katie Taylor, So., UNI (Muskego, Wis.) Katie Taylor took first place in the 100 backstroke, swimming a 55.99. Taylor was nearly 20 seconds ahead of her competition in the 400 IM, swimming a 4:26.72 for first-place. Taylor nabbed first-place in the 200 breaststroke, timing in at 2:24.24. In the 200 medley relay, Taylor, Olivia Knowles, Moriah Ross and Molly Lembezeder would be a full three seconds ahead of NebraskaOmaha, timing in at 1:47.78.

St. Louis Double Dual: 1-meter dive: 1st of 6 divers, Score: 228.98 UE Triple Dual: 1-meter dive: 2nd of 8 divers, Score: 244.36; 3-meter dive: 2nd of 7 divers, Score: 237.35 Gray had another solid weekend competing in the St. Louis Double Dual and the Evansville Triple Dual where she finished in the top-two in all of her events. Starting off on Friday, she took a first-place finish in the one-meter dive with a score of 228.98. Then on Saturday in the triple dual, she would take a second-place finish in both the three-meter dive and the one-meter dive. She scored a 244.36 in the one-meter and a 237.35 the three-meter dive. Alyssa Deuso, Jr., UNI (Marion, IA) In the 1-meter dive, Deuso took third and fourth place, diving a 228.25. In the 3-meter diving well, Deuso led the Panthers in second-place. Deuso would dive a 243.10. Deuso’s 3-meter dive score was a personal best. Baobao Ji, So., Southern Illinois (Taiyuan, China) Sophomore diver Baobao Ji finished in the top-three of both of Southern’s diving events against Missouri and Kentucky in the team’s home meet on Friday and Saturday. In the one-meter dive, Ji finished second with a score of 275.55 behind Missouri’s Kendra Kieser. In the three-meter, she placed third behind her twin-sister, Beibei Ji and Missouri’s Alexa Beckwith with a score of 284.50
