Tennis Men’s & Women’s programs in NCAA Div. III History

Overview

Tennis has been a staple in the Bard College athetic program since the 1920s. Other varsity offerings came and went, but tennis has always been there.

Things are changing at Bard. In the fall of 2011, the school accepted an invitation to join the prestigious Liberty League, prompting a new emphasis on recruiting and facilities. Liberty League teams are annually ranked in the top 25 in both men’s and women’s tennis, as well as being ranked among the top schools nationally for academics.

In recent years, the men’s and women’s programs have won numerous championships as the department moved into stronger and stronger leagues. The Bard men’s team won the Hudson Valley Men’s Athletic Conference title in 2002, 2004 and 2005.
